This is one of those stories you’ll always remember..You may have heard about Tarra the elephant and Bella the Dog. CBS News did a big story on them a couple of years ago. For years, TARRA the elephant and BELLA the dog were best friends at an Elephant sanctuary outside Nashville, TN. Lots of elephants retire there, and the sanctuary also has given home to a lot of stray dogs. Usually, the two species want nothing to do with each other. But elephants have a trait: They buddy up with a fellow pachyderm and stay together --forever. It's what they do.
Except in this case Tarra buddied up with Bella, a rescued guard dog. When Bella got hurt and had to be treated indoors at the Sanctuary's medical facility, Tarra stayed outside in vigil rather than roam the acreage. Now Bella is gone, the presumed victim of coyotes, and the elephant is so upset, she found Bella's body and carried it back to the barn where they spent so much time together. Workers at the sanctuary say Tarra's now visits Bella's grave --a grieving process. Tarra's being consoled now by workers and other elephants.
So how about that…if two creatures can get beyond their immense differences, how come we human’s can’t. Just wondering!!!!!
