Dinner time...What's the rule in your house?
Saw this morning that kids do better in school if you all sit down at the dinner table together.
I know..makes sense!!!
The study says the simple act of eating dinner together at home is a great predictor for higher school grades. Kids with less family dinner time are also more likley to have behavior problems.
Now...my kids were the exception to the rule...LOL. Dinner time was always running around time..
picking up from soccer, golf, dance or in Christinas case choir. We were always on the road at dinner time...and eating take out. Mike always got home way too late for us to sit down for dinner.. And since I couldnt or didnt want to cook..that was actually a good thing!!! We did this forever...but thank goodness the girls did great in school...and didnt have behavior problems
But I do know that wasn't the way it should have been.
I've always said if I could do it all over again...we would have a dinner hour at home.
Now on weekends, we had dinner hour...but it was in a restaurant!!!
OMG...how did my girls end up as great as they are?
And what's even stranger...they both cook...and cook great dinners...and clean their own homes too.
I swear they were kidnapped...
Funny thing about dinner hour... it's really important to a lot of people. During the tributes to Joan Rivers, it was brought up over and over again that while Melissa was growing up she was always home for dinner. And I saw on Celebrity Wife-Swap...Vegas Magician Penn said he's always home at dinner. His shows are late...so dinner with his wife and two kids happens every night.
I will say it again...how my girls turned out so great is beyond me........
Hope your life is a little more organized...and there are people sitting at the dining room table!!
Mine to this day is always empty....and a nice table it is!!! Thomasville.
