Can always tell I'm missing my Dad Marty when these type of stories pop out at me.
Like the one this morning about 90year old George Carapiet who has hit two holes in one- at the Sunnyvale Municipal Golf Course..and within 5 weeks of each other. How great is that!!
And then there's Hy Goldman of New Jersey. Celebrated his 101st birthday yesterday and where? At Work. Yes 101..and Hy is still working at a place called Capitol Lighting. He's worked there for 73 years. He originally planned to retire last year when he turned 100, but changed his mind when the day arrived. And guess what he does...He rebuilds broken light fixtures. Hes 101 for gosh sakes!! He started out 73 years ago in the stockroom and has worked his way up . LOL Says he still feels great and still drives himself to work everyday..
My Dad was 91 when he died...and until the last three weeks of his life he was still calling clients about their insurance policies. Still laughing, joking and with a grin from ear to ear. He could carry on a conversation with anyone..and he did.
We have a gal here at KBAY. Lorrie. She's been working for the radio station since February of 1974. That's 40 years!!! She's 86. Looks 20 years younger and has the mind and the spirit of someone my age (whatever that is LOL) Never misses work..drives in every morning and handles our Accounts Receivable. She is our inspiration. Never met anyone like her.
So there you are...stories about Marty, George, Hy and Lorrie... Pretty darn incredible. And I bet you know someone just like one of them. At least I hope you do!!!
