So just how stressed out are you these days.?

Hanukkah has started. Christmas is just 8 days away...

The new Year 15 days away (is my math right?-sometimes it's not)

So again...just how stressed out are you? Are you drinking yet? Of course you are?

But are you screaming like a mad person yet?

Saw this today.. 6 ways to avoid a nervous breakdown over the holidays.

1.Dont overspend -Too late!!!

2.Dont worry too much about traditions. As I always say new traditions are the best ones!

3.Dont try to buy the perfect gift for everyone. (just for me-LOL)

4.Don't eat too much. Yes, stay on your 26 weight watcher points. Actually, I this time of year say "forget the diet". You can start again in January.

5. Don't commit to too many events. Now, I tell you..and me!! Too late!!

6. Don't stay in the spirit all the time. Have that mini meltdown once or twice...it helps!!

Is there a #7?

Hope you didn't miss this today.

5 easy steps to become a morning person.

And while I don't wish this on everyone...LOL I do recommend it!!!

I love being a morning person...

1. Don't keep your alarm next to your bed. Force yourself to get out of bed to shut that darn thing off.

2.Find reason to be excited about waking up. How about joining Sam and Lissa on the radio!!

3.Brush your teeth immediately. Brushing itself wakes you up, not to mention the toothpaste taste.

4.Drink a glass of water. You're often dehydrated when you wake up and dehydration makes you tired.

5. Break a sweat! Yep, do some exercise...seems to work better than a shower. I'm not so sure about this one..LOL

And something else cool from this morning...the story about the older woman in Bellingham, Massachusetts who walked into a Toys R Us, walked back to the layaway department and paid $20,000 to cover the layaway items of 150 people. Isn't that nice!!

Even covering just one persons would make you feel pretty darn good!!

Home made goodies for this time of year.
I can't....LOL

But you can

Try these out for me..and tell me how good they are?

Better yet make some and bring them in.

Cookies and Cream Oreo Bark.

BakersRoyale.com says you need just 2 ingredients.. Oreos and Ghiradelli white chocolate chips.

Sounds great already..

They say to line an 8 by 8 pan with parchment or wax paper, leaving a one I inch overhang on the side.

(I don't know if that's really necessary- you decide) Melt 10 ounces of the white chocolate chips in a double boiler or microwave (that's what I would do) on low and cool for five minutes in a heat proof bowl. Stir in a dozen chopped Oreo s, spread out the mixture in a pan and top with 3 more finely chopped cookies. Chill for ten minutes, lift out, split pieces with a fork and EAT!

Not nearly as good I'm sure as Peppermint Bark...but yummy never the less.

Any other yummy holiday treat that is as easy to make. Because you know me...I'm all about easy!

What a morning...

Did we all survive. I sure hope so.

Ive still got a long day ahead of me with

jury duty at 1. Not looking forward to driving around in the bad weather. I missed it all this morning as I arrived at work about 2-45 and only had to deal with some gusty winds.

All I know is tomorrow will be a better day and the weekend looks good...

which is what we want for Stuff the Bus for Toys for Tots at Christmas in the Park.

2 things I saw this morning we just didnt have time to talk about...

The chocolate explosion.... How many of these have you had?

chocolate balsamic vinegar, chocolate chili peppers, chocolate coffee beans, chocolate olive oil, chocolate pasta, chocolate salt,, chocolate wine, chocolate tequila and chocolate beer

Where have I been...the only one Ive tried are the chocolate coffee beans.

And the other thing...pet your pet!!

A new study that petting your pet not only feels good, it can lower your blood pressure, help your body release a relaxation hormone and cut down on a stress hormone. And as a side benefit....it makes your pet happy. Hope we didnt pay for that study. I would have done it for free.

Holiday tipping....maybe you need this maybe you don't.

Got it out of Real Simple Magazine which makes it real simple.

Landscaper/gardener

$20 to $50. If he or she comes frequently, give up to a week's pay.

  • Pool cleaners

For a regular crew, the price of one cleaning, to divide among themselves. If a different employee shows up each visit, holiday tipping is unnecessary.

  • Newspaper carrier

$10 to $30, or the equivalent of one month of the subscription price. Sometimes you can include a tip when you pay your bill. Remember that adults usually do this job these days.

  • Handyman

$15 to $40, depending on how much work you've had him do.

  • Trash/recycling collectors

$10 to $30 each for private service; for public service, check your local municipality for regulations as some areas may not allow tipping.

Buy a Gift for Your…

  • Assistant

In addition to any end-of-the-year bonus, give a gift or gift card worth at least $50, depending on your position in the company and the assistant's length of service. Avoid perfume, clothing, or anything that could be perceived as too personal.

  • Boss

While not necessary, a simple gift is a nice gesture. Talk to coworkers to see if they'd like to chip in to buy a gift card or a restaurant gift certificate.

  • Teacher/tutor

Don't spend more than $25. Assuming the school allows gifts, give something such as a bookstore or restaurant gift certificate, a picture frame, a coffee shop gift card, or a homemade gift from your child, accompanied by a hand-written thank-you note. Gifts aren't as common at middle schools and high schools where each child has five or more teachers.

  • Home health employees/private nurse

A modest gift that shows your appreciation. Cash is not a good option. Be sure to check with the agency first, as some prohibit gifts.

  • Nursing home employees

Check company policy. Cash is not appropriate, but something that can be shared among the staff, like chocolate, cookies, or flowers, is a great idea.

  • Letter carrier/package courier

While nothing is expected, if you have a friendly relationship with the person, then a small gift or gift card in the $20 range is a nice gesture. Anything more valuable than that is prohibited by the United States Postal Service. FedEx allows tips or a gift worth up to $75, while UPS does not have an official policy.

  • Nanny/au pair

A tip equal to one or two week's pay, plus a personal gift from your child(ren), such as a framed crayon or marker portrait showing the child's appreciation. Avoid kid-oriented gifts; an attractive handbag might score major points.

  • Day-care staff

$25 to $70 each for those who have direct contact with your child(ren), plus a small, personal gift from your offspring. If only one person takes care of your kids, shoot for the higher end of that range. A gift certificate is fine, but take the time to include a hand-written card.

Give a Tip or a Gift to Your…

  • Babysitter

Cash or a gift equal to one or two night's pay. A personal gift from your child(ren) is always appreciated as well.

  • Cleaning lady

Up to one week's pay and/or a gift.

  • Dog walker

One week's pay and/or a gift. While tips are the norm, a down vest for winter walks, a massage, and other spa treatments are all thoughtful gift options.

  • Pet groomer

A tip or gift in the ballpark of the price of one session.

  • Hairstylist/manicurist/barber

The cost of one visit, or a gift of equivalent worth. If you deal with more than one person at a given establishment, give cash so they can split it among themselves.

  • Personal trainer/yoga instructor/massage therapist

Up to one session's fee or a modest gift, depending on how often you see him/her and whether he/she comes to your home. Avoid giving chocolate, cookies, or other unhealthy foods.

  • Personal caregiver

    Up to a week's salary and/or a modest gift.

Love this study on how much Santa should get paid every year.

Think about all the jobs he has.

He runs his workshop which makes him an industrial engineer . He needs to do that for 364 days a year, every day except when he's out delivering.

He's a professional shopper, package handler, labor relations specialist, customer service rep, private investigator, ranch worker (he's got reindeer to care for) pilot, chimney sweep and shipping and receiving clerk.

So someone has decided he should earn $140k.

Someone else said if you pay him a dollar for every kid in the world he makes happy he'd be up to 2.8 billion dollars.

I just want to know what Mrs. Claus makes for keeping him on track and focused and you know she does....because as we all know behind every good man is a great woman!!!

So why do we love the holidays...

and what purpose do they really serve....

besides hopefully bringing us close to family and friends?

And being generous and nice to others...

Time Magazine has the headline

Three health benefits of being in the Christmas spirit

1. Lowers your blood pressure. Yes...people who support their family and friends whether it be emotionally or financially have lower blood pressure. Helps if you feel you're supposed too.

2. Reduces stress. Those who donate have lower levels of a stress hormone called cortisol. Makes sense.

3. Makes you happier. They say the pleasure-centers of your brain light up more when you give of yourself.

I've got an idea...why dont we do these things all year round?

Till death do us part...

Not for everyone...but for many.

I'm off to a wedding in Vegas this weekend.

Dear friends saying their I Dos...

Happy times.

And what a perfect send off this morning....the headline that The "Half of Marriages End in Divorce" Thing just isn't true anymore. I'm not sure my Jeff would agree. You didn't know this..but he's a divorce attorney...and busy like crazy right now.

But here's the new stats...that this 1 in 2 marriages end in divorce thingie went out of style after the 80s. About 70% of people who got married in the 90s are still together and predicted to last until "death do them part"...and the number is even higher -75%- for people who got married in the 2000s. Love that stat...that covers both my girls.

Divorce rates supposedly peaked in the 70s and 80s and have been qoing down quickly since.

Why...?

Couples are now waiting longer to get married.

Couples are living together before they got married and breaking up if things don't work out

And more are focusing on marrying for love..not money.

So I do I do..forever!!

A toast this weekend to Tracie and Ray

A toast to my Tori and Matt who got married last year and a

pre-toast to my Christina and Ryan who are getting married this next year.

And definitely a toast to you...

How many years is it?

Going to Vegas this weekend for my good friend's wedding.

A wedding...Vegas...how much more fun can that be.

For our 15th Mike and I went to Vegas to renew our wedding vows.

I think it was my idea..LOL I callded the Vegas Chamber of Commerce to ask for chapel suggestions...and said maybe Elvis could come. The woman said really? You dont want to do that...

She was right!! So off we went....and I remember it was 110 that day. Our wedding date was August 10th so of course thats the day we had to renew.

We took the girls. Victoria was about 10. Christina 5. Our good friends went as our witnesses

It was the Chapel of the Flowers..The air in the limo wasn't working and I thought we were all going to die before we even arrived. I got my hair done in the morning at the MGM salon and there were six of us at the same time getting our hair done for weddings...yes...6!! There are a lot of wedding chapels in Vegas. And there's nothing like it . When we walked in, they promptly asked us if we'd like to buy the video...did we need a ring...did we want to charge it? We said yes, no and yes.

Christina was the flower girl..she wouldnt drop the rose petals of course and I think I started laughing as soon as I started walking down the aisle. I think it was nervous laughter. We did it though...Mike and I renewed our vows....and we had another 13 anniversaries after that!!!

Good memories....This has just made me smile.

Love Love Love our Christmas music.

And our boss Dana Jang has it right as we play all ten of the top most popular Christmas songs according to Billboard and when it comes to music they and he are the experts.

So here they are from top to bottom...

10. "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" By John Lennon
9. "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)" By Trans-Siberian Orchestra
8. "White Christmas" Binging Crosby
7. "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" By Andy Williams
6. "Felix Navidad" by Jose Feliciano.

5. "A Holly Jolly Christmas" By Burl Ives

4"The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)" By Nat King Cole .

3."Jingle Bell Rock" ByBobby Helms
2. "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" ByBrenda Lee
1. "All I Want For Christmas Is You" By Mariah Carey

I didn't realize Mariah's song was 20 years old this year...which is why she will be a big deal tonite at the annual lighting of the Rockefellor Christmas Tree In NY. She'll o-pen the show on NBC at 8.. I Love this show....Youve also got Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, Seth MacFarlane, Sara Bareilles Le Ann Rimes, Cyndi Lauper and Idina Menzel who I guess will be singing Let It Go...LOL Of course she will,

Speaking of your favorite Christmas Music, if you havent already downloaded our new incredible KBAY APP do it right now...Every day this month, you can download for free a Christmas Song. You will end up with quite the collection.

Tis the season for holiday mishaps...

although I must admit I've never had one like this.

But with the way I shop it does make sense.

I had lunch about 2 weeks ago with a very dear friend Ann who shops even more than me. We met at Nordstroms, had lunch, paid with our Nordstrom cards and I guess when the waiter brought them back we took each others. Said our good bys...gave each other hugs. Ann went home for the holidays. I went to San Francisco. Funny both locations had Nordstroms and both of us used our/her card to shop.

Never noticed I was using her card...she never noticed she was using mine. Slide it through the machine, slide it out...over and over again. Yesterday I'm looking for my Nordstrom card....need the security code to shop online....and finally I see it's Anns card. I called her. She had not made the revelation yet. Both of us could not stop laughing.

So I guess next month when we get our bills we just trade them. I quickly realized though that Ann does a lot more shopping than me. Not sure how to exchange the points. So I guess hers are mine!!!! So happy more shopping for me....LOL!!

That's my holiday mishap...You need to give me one now.

Favorite story of the morning...

Trees for Troops.

And you can be part of it by stopping by the Battaglia Ranch Rree Farm in San Martin.

13580 Murphy Avenue.

Saw this in the Mercury News. Paul Battaglia who has been selling Christmas trees for 40 years and has great ones I might add donates 200 trees to this national program that gives free Christmas trees to 17 thousand members of the military and their families. I like his comment that as a Vietnam Vet he would love to deliver peace to all our military families but since he can't he does the next best thing and thats give these families some joy.

Heres where you come in...the official Trees for Troops Weekend is this weekend...Friday through Sunday. He has 200 tall noble firs that would normally sell for $60. You buy one for half price $30

and write a personal card that will be attached to the tree which will be taken via Fed Ex to a military family probably in Alameda, Barstow, San Diego, Camp Pendletob or Twnety Nine Palm. And for each donation, Paul gives $5 to the Christmas Spirit Foundation.

Cant go out to the Battaglia Ranch Christmas Tree Farm, go to their website at battagliaranch.com

or to christmasspiritfoundation.org

How great is that. Thank you Paul Battaglia.

This is what you call Sharing the Holiday Spirit!!!
