I don’t care how much money you have, I can’t even fathom a wedding that costs from 2-5 million dollars….Can you? On the other hand, if you have it, why not? I wouldn’t guess that Chelsea Clinton would be the type of person to want one of these super-lavish affairs. But I remember when I got married way back when….1979…
Mike and I sort of decided weddings are often for the parents. I think mine may have had more guests than we actually did.

SO this might be a wedding more fit for the Clintons than Chelsea. She’s probably never even met Oprah, or Steven Spielberg or Barbra Streisand.

If the reports are right, and so far everything is so top secret, Chelsea’s wedding to Investment banker “what’s his name” will cost far more than what Tom Cruise spent to marry Katie Holmes in a castle (1.2 mil) I guess when Liza Minelli married David Gest she spent 1.6 million.

Chelsea’s dress is costing $16 thousand. If I remember mine cost $300. I bought it at Trudy’s in the Pruneyard. We did have a sit down dinner and a 5 piece band and besides the cake, we even had dessert-Peach Melba—but I didn’t even have anyone do my hair or make up. Looking back at the pictures—I probably should have—LOL!!!

Oh well…all I know is I can’t wait until the day one of my daughters has a wedding. Better start saving my millions now…ha ha ha

Hope you have a good weekend plan. We’ll have the KBAY booth set up tomorrow at the Fremont Festival of the Arts. Stop on by… get a recycleable shopping bag. And come eat ice cream with me Saturday in Campbell at the Grand Opening of Patelco Credit Union. Yep…scooping up sundaes from 12-2 or until we run out…It’s the Hamilton Shopping Center at the corner of Bascom and Hamilton.  Sam's got his fun planned...the Giants-Dodgers game tonite. First time he really has to walk a distance on that new knee of his.

I know where Sam is going for dinner…Cheesecake Factory…
How do I know..I saw him printing out a coupon this morning for a $1.50
Slice of cheesecake. A preview day they call it for tomorrow’s National Cheesecake Day when you can get a slice for half-price. You have to go to their Facebook page to get one.
Seems all wrong…They should give out free mini-cheesecakes with a meal tomorrow…after all It’s a national holiday!!!! Maybe they could give out something like Charlie’s “Poppers” which are sold at a store at Charlie’s Cheesecake Works in the Almaden Valley….In fact, I think I saw cheesecake poppers in the freezer section of Costco the other day…. Now I’m hungry!!!!!

So when does summer come to an end for your family. We used to have a boss here at KBAY who would get so mad at me because I would say summer is over at the beginning of August. He’d always say “No, it’s not Lissa. You have until Labor Day.

Yes…technically but when do your kids go back to school? Mid-August ?
And when do back to school sales start?. And when do you start to feel bad that you’ve let summer pass you without doing anything. Been there..done that!!!!

And besides, when will we get an entire week of hot summertime weather?
I’m thinking next summer!!!!!

Sorry I left the house this morning and didn’t set the DVR for the View. Would have liked to have seen the President, but I figure I will see snippets all night long on TV.
Was really surprised to see this morning that only about 800 thousand women 18-49 watch that show yet it’s always quoted or talked about. I won’t mention that 1.2 million watch Young and the Restless…And that’s when It’s on in the morning. That doesn’t count all of those (like me) who watch it on DVR.

We’ve got the big wedding talk tomorrow. Even if you had the money, would you really
spend $5 million dollars on your daughter’s wedding? Crazy….Crazy….Crazy!!!!!!!

Gotta start going to garage sales. You heard about this guy who bought 2 small boxes of photographs for $45 at a garage sale in Southern Cal years ago. He didn’t think much about them until he started showing the pictures to people and someone said “hey those were taken by Ansel Adams. They were actually 65 glass negatives of photos by Ansel Adams. (I don’t know what a glass negative is either)…but anyway….they’re worth $200 million dollars. Now that’s a nice return on $45.

Sam was looking at an anniversary list this morning… 10 years ago Kathie Lee Gifford left the “Regis and Kathie Lee show. ….and she went where? Oh yes, she does the last hour of the Today Show with that Hoda “woman”. Didn’t Kathie Lee leave Regis to become a “big “star? I actually like her. I interviewed her on the phone once and had a great conversation with her. She’s very warm…very friendly, but she really didn’t get far after Regis, did she?.And he so easily replaced her with Kelly Ripa. Now, Kelly Ripa…that’s who I want to be when I “grow-up”.

I’ve already read the new KBAY Connection Newsletter. I knew we’d come up with something great for what Sam and I think is one of the best summer concerts at the Mountain Winery…Talking about Huey Lewis and the News. Front row seats. I’ve never ever sat in the front row at the Mountain Winery, but I’ve seen others do it (ha ha) and I’ve seen Huey go right up to them. He loves the front row.!!!
You have to go after those.

It’s a strike out. Had the story this morning that they were looking for thousands of extras for Money Ball starring Brad Pitt…and Philip Seymour Hoffman. This is the movie they’re making about the Oakland A’s 2002 season when they won over 20 games in a row. But I went on online and the bases are loaded…LOL .I guess they don’t need anyone else. If you still want to check out the website it’s…BeinaMovie.com.  Who knows maybe something else will come up. Bree who works in our Promotions Department was hired. She goes Thursday night. Don’t know what she’s getting paid. Never been an extra, have you? I know it’s not much…but a ton of fun.
And what if you really got to see Brad Pitt!!!!! That would be priceless!!!!
And now we know why he shaved that hideous looking goatee/beard off. Thank goodness for small favors…LOL!!!! Was that not the ugliest look ever….

If you watch the Real Housewives of New Jersey/…you know Teresa and Joe are bankrupt. They have debt totaling 11 million dollars. They’re auctioning stuff off…like
Flat screen TVs, fancy furniture and chandeliers. You can download a catalog from ajwilnerauctions.com.  Wonder if they’re selling the big old fat yellow diamond she got on the show last nite for their 10th anniversary!!!!

And if you watch Mad Men…you are probably doing so on a flat screen TV…ha ha . They say half the viewers make at least 100 grand a year….and that Mad Men has the wealthiest viewers of any cable show.  The stuff they come up with!!!!!

After reading all my Birthday greetings this morning on Facebook, I think it’s fair to say KBAY has the nicest listeners. Thanks for making my day so special!!!! Even though I say to myself I don’t care about “another birthday” it’s great to know people take the time to notice, so again... thank you!!!!

Tis the economy…Reading more and more lately of
robberies. Over the weekend in San Francisco someone actually stole an ATM machine from the wall. That’s one way to get some money out. Sam had his pride and joy T-Bird broken into Friday in our parking garage. Someone slit the soft-top and reached in to open the side door but the car alarm must have scared him off. Yes. I assume the thief was a man—LOL. $2000 damage for Sam’s insurance company!!!!

A listener called this morning said she was parked over by Branham High School to play tennis. Her purse and her friend’s purse were both stolen from the back of the car. I have to admit I used to always  leave my purse in the car and think if I covered it with a jacket—it would be safe. Now, when I go to work out or walk with a friend I leave my purse at home and just take my wallet. After all, that’s all you need for a quick trip out…your license, proof of insurance and a few bucks. I lock it in my glove compartment… Oops…I didn’t write that….LOL!!!!!

Don’t know if I’m up for the Bachelorette tonight, but I’ll be watching…
2 hour show where the guys “talk”…OMG!!!!!. Next week, Ali finally picks or doesn’t pick her “fiancé”. Was this season longer than the other ones? It sure seems like it…

I’m much more interested now in Big Brother although this is the first season in 12 that it’s not in the top 10 for ratings.

You take your lunch to work? Saves about $50 a week. But a story this morning you might be better off storing it in the bathroom instead of the office fridge. That’s how dirty the fridge at work is…4 out of ten are cleaned once a month. At KBAY, I think ours is cleaned out twice a year, which I’m guessing is the norm.
I would just leave mine on the desk…..the only problem is it would be eaten right away. Too much temptation…..LOL!!!!

This is tempting.. Sam and I have family 4 packs all week for both the Wiggles and Raging Waters….Fun’s on!!!!!

Gotta turn the page on the calendar…It’s July 23rd…which marks the beginning of
The month of Leos…If your birthday is between now and August 22nd, see if this
describes you: confident, ambitious, generous, loyal and encouraging. Have to accept the good with the bad. Here are Leo weaknesses: pretentious, domineering, melodramatic, stubborn, vain. I know that doesn’t describe me either….LOL.
Yep….it’s time for the big birthday. How old? The same age as Disneyland. They opened ten days before I was born. Maybe that’s why I am such a Disneyland fanatic.
Have to be honest. Birthdays aren’t really my thing. I know hard to believe…
I would much rather give than receive. I think I’ll be doing both this weekend….Going down to Cal Poly so that I can be with both my daughters. Team TLC (Tori, Lissa, Christina) needs a workout!!!!!

Sam is also packing up…packing up his new knee. He stayed all week in a hotel, right near the station to help with his recovery. He’s anxious to see his wife-Carol-!!!

Got to reminiscing about high school reunions this morning.  I stopped going after year 25.
Summer always big for reunions. Leigh High Grads (my alma mater) seem to love their get togethers.
There’s one tomorrow for the class of 1990. It’s at the Toll House in Los Gatos. If that’s you, you can e mail Jeannette Kelley at kelleyj@kelleyj.com

And an entire weekend celebration August 13-15 for the Lee High class of 1970.
Hey..that was my brother Scott’s year. Leighreunion70@comcast.net.
If you’re wondering about your schools reunion, I hear Facebook and Classmates.com are good sources.

Have yourself a great weekend. Mountain Winery Monday will be hear before your knot it. Love the artist this time around...Michael McDonald. Also have Wiggles and Raging Water tix…

There it was…at Petsmart….The Martha Stewart Collection for Pets!!!!
I don’t own one Martha Stewart item…no kitchen do-dads or pots and pans, no linens, no towels but I now own a Martha Stewart dog chew. Can you believe it Martha is now hawking doggie and kitty stuff. And I bet she makes a fortune. Some of the stuff didn’t seem too practical like the crocheted chew toys although for $6.99 I bought a brown rope
Chewie . But she’s got a set of feeding bowls and quilted dog beds…and of course with machine washable zip off slip covers….LOL!!!

Big Brother 12…why all the crying this season? Must be a product placement somewhere in the house for Kleenix and I just haven’t noticed…LOL

Sam watched the show last nite…I think for the first time….saw one minute….got bored and changed the channel. His show is still Survivor…and we read this morning that former Dallas Cowboys Coach Jimmy Johnson is on the next season. Put on Troy Aikman and I’ll start watching again…..

The show we both watch and he got me into this one is Mad Men. It starts up again Sunday night. Who doesn’t love Jon (Don) Hamm? Can’t wait to see how Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce works out. Early on in the season,  I’m guessing that Betty (January Jones) will realize Henry can’t give her any better life than Don did and  goes crawling back...

We’ve got something big for the Sam and Lissa show tomorrow. After 8, we’ll announce which fan won the front row tickets for Kenny Loggins at the Mt. Winery. You still have time to be “that” fan. Go to KBAY.Com.

Talking about Lindsay Lohan. Saw this morning her wake up call in jail is 5am. Someone shouts over the P.A. “Line up for chow! Make your bed! Tuck your shirts in! Hands in your Pants! I want my military line with no talking!

She’s got 3 meals that take up 20 minutes each.

When was the last time you went to a concert? My friend went to the James Taylor/Carole King show last nite. Tickets were $119 each. What did I pay? $60 for Taylor Swift.
Plus he said they added a $9 “facility” fee. He didn’t use the bathroom so he was wondering if he could get that part refunded--LOL[. Plus he said there was an $18 charge for something else and a $4.50 “convenience fee”. His seat, he said, wasn’t that convenient. Plus like at the Giants game this weekend the parking was $30.

The show he said was great but that he couldn’t remember all the tunes he knew so well
way back when . Also these “youthfully hippie-like minstrels now look like grandparents. I think Taylor is now 62 and King 68.

Plus he added that the “stadium” food had him waiting for the 7th inning stretch…
Good one…

What a GREAT Monday. Sam’s back….He’s hobbling …but he’s back….
big fat new knee and all!!!!!

Went to the Giants game Saturday night with my girlfriend Janette.
That is no cheap evening…$54 for each ticket (she buys 14 games a year so it’s always her treat) But $30 for parking. A big old Nathan’s hot dog- I think $7-25. Diet Coke $6
Margarita $10 and she bought a Giants blanket $50.
Had to resist the ice cream sundae $8.25.
And so embarrassing…..a camera guy was a few rows in front of me filming our section and there I was pigging out on the hot dog. Not a pretty site. Just hope I had my mouth closed…LOL!!!

Good weekend for an ice cream cone. Baskin-Robbins is putting 5 of it’s flavors on dry ice somewhere….including French Vanilla…yeah a classic since BR started in 1945. Either it’s now too bland for us or we just don’t like the French..LOL
Gerald e mailed this morning that they have a tradition of dropping flavors:
How about these (with the year they had 'em):
  • FROM THE MOVIES:
  • Resolution Breaker (2003)
  • Trick Oreo® Treat (1997)
  • 2001 Spice Odyssey (2001)
  • Dirt ’n Worms (2004)
  • Last Mango in Paradise (1995)
FROM TV:
Charlie Brownie (1967)
Sesame Sweet (1972)
Miami Ice (1986)
Wheel of Fortune Choco Letter Crunch (1996)

Stacey called and said at over $3 a scoop, she’ll stick to Thrifty Ice Cream at Rite-Aid for $1.80 for 2 scoops!!!!!

If you’ve got time today….do us a favor. Count how many pairs of jeans you own? And how many actually fit. We’ll compare notes tomorrow.. See how “average” you are.

Forget Got Milk…Got Plans?
Good stuff this weekend….and hopefully you’ll have such a good time you’ll forget its so hot outside…because all of these are outside.
The Menlo Park Connoisseurs Marketplace is tomorrow and Sunday. The boss says this is one of the best summertime festivals. I can’t wait to find out. I’ll be in the KBAY booth tomorrow from 10-2 doing the show from there. Stop on by…….We’ve got more of those great eco-friendly Summer Made Simple bags..and the new KBAY summer CD. Also a chance to win theater tickets and a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Mountain View has the Obon Festival and Salinas has the rodeo. Buckin’ Broncos and Bulls too!!!

Saturday night…Movie Night…Free Movie Night….Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs at Municipal Stadium on their big screen. How fun is that? Admission and parking free. The concession stands will be open. No lawn chairs, but blankets are good!!!!! Gates open at 6. And they say they movie starts at 7. Isn’t it still light at 7? Well, let me know how it goes.

Mentioned this morning that the typical woman changes her hairstyle 100 times
during her lifetime. So if you’re about due….Sunday, the Innovators Salon and Spa of Campbell is having a hair cut a thon for the Hospice of the Valley. All the money made goes to them….and the prices are great …haircut-$15 shampoo $2 and blow dry $5.
They’re in Kirkwood Plaza. Goes from 11-4. Think how good you’ll look for Monday and the return of SAM!!!! Also a super-sized Mountain Winery Monday. You listen for the Kenny Loggins sounder every hour from 7 until 4…and if you’re caller 25, you win not only 2 tickets to his concert July 29th, but you’ll get to meet him at his private sound check party. Geez..I don’t know what’s better…the return of SAM…or an evening with Kenny Loggins…LOL!!! (I already know the answer)

This will take you back to your school days…We have a progress report on Sam…
He’s coming back …..Oh..his new knee still hurts plenty….and  a lot more than he expected….but he’ll be here again on Monday. I’m not planning a show and tell…
Not sure I even want to look at his knee right now…Can’t be pretty…LOL!!!!

Here was our big fashion tip this morning…..
If you want people to think your butt is smaller you wear dark jeans that have normal-sized, plain pockets—no reverse stitching or rhinestones. Women wearing jeans with embellishments on the butt were judged to look 10 pounds heavier than their true weight.
Makes sense..doesnt it..

We’ll call this the “Shrinking Butt” tip…

And then I found this..that the average increase in the protrusion of a woman’s butt when wearing heels is 25 percent….Isn’t that weird.

We’ll call that one “Butt Out”

I’ve got to stop reading this stuff…LOL!!!!

This one is good though….
Sex burns about as many calories as the same amount of time spent weight training or walking. You even burn 8-12 calories per minute of kissing which is more than you burn in a minute of walking. Since I have yet to start dating….I will keep going to the gym….!!!!!!

Sam and Lissas Blog 7/14

We started a new club this morning…”Facebook Anonymous”…and the roll call is growing…

4 signs you might be a Facebook Addict.

1.      You don’t call people when you have big news. When something big happens in your life, your closest friends and family shouldn’t find out about it on Facebook. Right? You call them…and then put it on Facebook.
2.      You constantly post status updates. Changing your status a few times a day is fine…but does anyone really care that you took out your garbage on the hour every hour..LOL!!!
3.      You share things you probably shouldn’t. Heck I don’t need Facebook for that… ha ha. I’m always saying stuff on the morning show that I shouldn’t. But isn’t it true when you spend a lot of time on Facebook, you start forgetting that some things SHOULD be kept private.
4.      You update your status while driving. Yes…if you have a smartphone you learned quickly you can update Facebook from your phone. That’s why I still have a “stupid” phone.
So what’s your count…..are you 4 for 4? Because if you are….repeat after me…I am a Facebook Addict.

Where are my Big Brother “friends” . The 12th season started last Sunday and for the first time the show isn’t in the top 10 for the ratings. Wonder what that’s about.
If you ask me, the best hour in TV came this week with the Real Housewives of New Jersey. You can still see it, so I won’t give it away, but I read this morning that Danielle has gone to the police and asked that they arrest Teresa and Jacqueline’s daughter Ashley. And that’s kind of weird, because I think the show was taped months ago.
I guess she also watched it this week….ha ha

Favorite thing to buy?….shoes. I haven’t figured out the connection here, but while I have always loved shoes, I started buying them like crazy after my husband died. I think because it gave me something to do—that I liked—shopping and it’s so easy to buy shoes. They’re not like bathing suits. They’re easy to try on and if it’s your right size they usually fit and shoes are always on sale!!! That is my rule. I rarely buy shoes for full price. They have to be on sale and I need a coupon. Other than for a pair of good boots or UGGS, I tend to pay under 60 so I’m still in a state of shock over what my daughter Tori told me over the weekend. She went to two weddings. Her friend was wearing shoes that cost $500 one day and I think she said $650 the next. And the bride’s shoes cost over $700. So guess what we’re talking about tomorrow morning….How much you’re willing to spend for a pair of shoes.

This morning Chris Jackson who is sitting in for Sam…looked at his son’s Facebook page. He’s a teenager..and just bought a pair of Toms. Yep. I hadn’t heard of them either. They look like Vans. They’re slip-ons….the slipper look. I think he paid $55. My daughter Christina who is going to be a teacher….elementary school is into Converse All-Stars. She calls them “teacher shoes”. Darcye who teaches high school in Morgan Hill said her students favor Vans and Havaianas flip-flops. I’ve never worn those..but boy do I love flip-flips. I have them in every color….every style…and wear them all the time (as long as they were on sale..and I had a coupon) LOL!!!

Call us tomorrow…let us know your price limit 1 800 948-5229.
And be around at 7:20….I’ve got the 4 signs you’re a Facebook Addict.

Yes…Disneyland is the happiest place on earth…but I think mornings here at KBAY are second best…Don’t laugh…I truly mean it. That’s how you know you had a good vacation…and some good time off…it’s okay to return to work..Just wish Sam was back. Since we started working together over 5 years ago, we have never been apart for more than 2 weeks and this marks 3. That old knee of his is still looking pretty good—LOL!!!

If you’re going to Disneyland this summer, make sure you get over to California Adventure. This new “World of Colors” Water-light show is absolutely incredible. How they do their magic I will never ever know. Just a warning. To see the show, and they have nighttime performances at 9, 10:15 and 11 you have to get a fast-pass first thing in the morning when the park opens at 10. Plus there’s no seating. You stand for the half hour show. Plus, we stood in our places for 90 minutes before time. It truly is worth it though. When the starts and you’re watching in disbelief you forget about the 90 minute wait. Plus you want to try and get in the blue or yellow sections for great viewing. We actually reserved picnic dinners online ahead of time for $14.95 and besides a great meal we got Yellow passes as well so we didn’t have to worry about getting a fast-pass. There’s really no place to eat the dinners in the viewing area so we had them for lunch..LOL. You can also make dinner reservations if you call Disney Dining and you also get a preferred spot and with no waiting. so that’s even better.
And a by the way on Disneyland…with the fast passes. You know you don’t have to use them during the specified time on the ticket. You just need to use them that day and if you read the fine print at the bottom of the ticket, it will tell you the earliest time you can get another fast pass. So we would get them early in the morning and then save them for later in the day when the rides had half hour or more lines.
They’re a must for Indiana Jones. Space Mt. Thunder Mountain, Screaming and California Soaring. You can’t get them at all for the Matterhorn, Tower of Terror or the newer ride Toy Story 3. You can wait an hour for that one…but it is so much fun. Don’t miss that one in California Adventure Park. It is great.

Just talking about it makes me want to go back…LOL!!!!

kneed you now!

These are strange days, indeed! Lissa and I usually sit together after our show while she writes the daily blog, but with Lissa gone to The Happiest Place On Earth, also known as Disneyland, and me out with knee replacement surgery, nobody's getting blogged! So, with pain in my knee (and time on my hands) I'm blogging away!

Hope you had a fun 4th - Lissa told me the Morgan Hill Parade was big fun! She rode in the back of a shiny Mercedes convertible provided by her best friend, and I rode the couch watching "Born On The Fourth of July" for the umpteenth time on TV!

My knee replacement surgery went well - painful, but well. As I was lying around, whining, which I've done a lot these past 2 weeks, I thought about the pain those pirates and other one-legged characters must go through, without proper sanitation and all. The Pirates of the Caribbean didn't have Kaiser, did they? Now I'm doing all the therapy dictated by my Physical Terrorist every day, wondering if those pirates had PT back in the day. If I had to lose a leg back then, I think I'd just walk the plank!

Lissa's in Disneyland, and that reminds me of the trip she & I took for their 50th anniversary - hard to believe it was 5 years ago this July 17th! Lissa & I had a really good time celebrity-watching and doing our show from Main Street, and enjoying all the amazing food they prepared for the event. Mickey cupcakes! Mmmm!

We saw Jesse McCartnery, The Goo Goo Dolls, Steve Martin, Christina Aguilara, Julie Andrews...and that was just in the line for the Matterhorn! (har har!)

Most poignant of all, we met Art Linkletter, who had opened the park in 1955 along with Ronald Reagan. Art was so gracious and nice to us - I'll never forget that.

So, Lissa returns Monday - I'm out for a few more days until FedEx delivers my peg-leg and eye patch kit, then it's more fun with Sam & Lissa! Can't wait!

Hope you have something fun planned this July 4th weekend.
And if you’re still searching for a place to go….KBAY.Com has a pretty good list of events.

You know where I’ll be…Morgan Hill for the annual parade. Start time this year because of Sunday church services 11am. I’ll be the one in the silver Mercedes Convertible.
Yeah..fancy!!!!!! It’s my girlfriend Joanne’s car. She’s having it all detailed today…
Not sure of the final plan, but I think my friend’s The Wilsons will be driving and I may make Victoria come along… The more…. the merrier!!!! Just won’t be the same without Sam. His July 4th doesn’t look so great at this moment. A new knee that looks like a Casaba Melon and hurts!!! He’s starting physical therapy today so that’s a good sign. It’s
Progress!!!!

Hot dogs or Burgers for July 4th…According to our informal poll this morning it’s Burgers. Love the recipe of a listener….Lipton’s onion mix and A-1 sauce.
Yum!!!!!!
And if you could have a BBQ with any celebrity or celebrity family who would it be?
I agree with the survey I saw this morning….the Kardashians… Hey…I could even put up with Bruce Jenner. Looks like his most recent plastic surgery fixed his last face lift …LOL!!!!!

And what better time than now….July 4th weekend…to have something special for our troops. Old Navy stores  Saturday will be collecting hygiene and comfort items for our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq…You can even buy the stuff there…things like flip flops, t-shirts, underwear, sunglasses. They’ll give you a 10 percent discount in exchange for a donation…. Operation Old Navy….hats off to them.!!!!

Who knew….the most dangerous summer time activity isn’t boating…or swimming
But –are you ready—jumping on a trampoline….yep..The chances of landing in the E-R about 1 in 3000. Far more dangerous than lying on a hammock…LOL….Your chances of getting hurt on one of those are 1 in 85,000. And I’m not sure if you get hurt getting on or getting off the Hammock. I have never been able to do either—gracefully…

And I’m still hearing from people who loved Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor…
We used go to the one on Blossom Hill Road near the Almaden Expressway.
At least I think that’s where it was. Now, that whole strip shopping center is gone….
That’s where the big new Whole Foods is going in. Got an e-mail from Linda…She just went to a Farrell’s while on vacation down in Mission Viejo and Santa Clarita….and they have a couple in Hawaii. Maybe they’ll make a comeback here. Their website is great…www.farrellsusa.com .Music starts playing when you open it…and the menu is just like it was…they still have Pigs in a Trough…..(Fit for a Pig)
Geez..those were great memories!!!!!!!

Not only is July the start of Ice Cream Month….but its Hot Dog Month—
Grilling Month…and Bikini Month……Well, 3 out of 4 ain’t bad!!!!!!

Why are these people writing books? Rob Lowe “Stories I Only Tell My Friends”
And Actress Barbara Eden “Jeannie out of the Bottle” After the first 10 chapters about her 4 seasons on I Dream of Jeanne…she will use the final chapter to talk about what?

Funny call from my daughter Christina this morning….She’s getting her teaching credential …and is taking a couple of summer classes at Cal Poly. One of them is
P.E for elementary kids…and she tells me that today…they have to teach soccer which was never her forte….I remember watching her picking weeds as the ball was coming right at her….I think she was 5. Another time, she was fixing her headband while the ball was coming at her… She’s like me…a spectator.not a player!!!!!

Now this is a picture I don’t want to see. Sam tells me his new knee looks like a Casaba Melon…..or just a big fat gourd. Said he won’t be wearing shorts for a long long long time…Plus it hurts big time… You know maybe that old knee wasn’t so bad!!!!!! I miss him!!!!!!

Hope you got your KBAY Connection Newsletter this morning. Darrin put together a great list of things to do and places to go for the long 4th weekend.
You know where I’ll be…Morgan Hill for the July 4th Parade. ..Don’t know the car I will be in but I’m number 48 in the line up.  We’ve got dueling parades on July 4th. The other fun one is in the Rose Garden neighborhood in San Jose….The Rose, White and Blue Parade….and look who they’ve snared…the Woz. Yeah…Steve Wozniak is their Grand Marshall. See what Dancing with the Stars gets you….LOL!!!

Let’s go to dinner at the airport…The new terminal B at Mineta International
officially opens tomorrow….and I know you can’t go eat there unless you’re
waiting to board a plane….but I will be soon…and I can’t wait. Have you seen the
list of new eateries in and around the food court? San Jose Joes-aka Original Joes,  Pizza My Heart, The Brit (behind the London style red phone booth), Mojo Burger, Ruby Tuesday, Una Mas, and the Santa Cruz Wine Bar…  Already open is Le Boulanger, Sharks Cage, Le Boulanger and Gordon Biersch.  There’s also Sonoma Chicken Coop, a few more cafes and local “stars” CJ Olson fruits and nuts…and my favorite Schurras candies.
Forget the fancy high tech stuff; the 200 foot long skylights ….and yes…the long long long walk to your gate….there are now “good-eats”

And good thing….you may want to buy your meal and take it on the plane after the study out today that airline food can make you sick ….literally. ..FDA inspections at the catering facilities found mice, cockroaches and fecal matter….and that in flight meals weren’t kept at the proper temperatures.  Maybe it’s a good thing a lot of meal service has been dropped!!!! But please…can I have an extra bag of peanuts……

Sam update…He’s doing great considering he’s got a new knee that is just days old.
 Can’t play the piano yet—LOL.
But he’s in less pain than he expected and already up and about with a walker.
Can’t wait till he’s back…..

Can’t believe I fell asleep before the Rose ceremony last nite on the Bachelorette.
Have to admit I’ve lost interest because I did the no-no…read the spoilers…..
But I will never lose interest in the Real Housewives of New Jersey. That’s the best thing going on TV right now….

Hey…dancing is kind of fun. Just wish I was good at it.
I think I might have embarrassed myself at Studio 94 in Campbell Friday night.
But I’ve checked the pictures posted at KBAY.Com and there seems to be no evidence of my lack of coordination…LOL….

And what is so cool about dancing is….you don’t need to have a date. In fact, I’m guessing the women outnumbered the men 2-1 and it just didn’t matter. Everyone danced with everyone…and had one heck of a time.  What’s the saying? Girls just want to have fun”.

Certainly like this….Katie Cassidy who happens to be David Cassidy’s daughter
and starred in the new Melrose Place before it was cancelled has a new job….She’ll be on Gossip Girl next season as a semi-regular. All they’ve said is she will be mysterious, make trouble….and is “not what she appears”….
In other words.. she’ll fit right in.

And yes…another story on Jake and Vienna. Dancing with the Stars Edyta Sliwinska say says Vienna was jealous of Jake’s dancing partner Chelsie Hightower… which she adds was weird because Jake and Chelsie didn’t even get along.
Okay…...I think I’m done with the story…..you too?

Fun stuff this week during the morning show….Lilith Fair tickets for July 5th at the Shoreline plus Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey tix for the circus in August.

Look what we missed yesterday…..the start of a complete ban nationwide
of……candy cigarettes. It’s true. How did I miss this?
Remember… (I hope you’re old enough too) we got those things all the time at 7-11…
We all thought they were cool because our Moms did not!!!
But the Family Smoking Prevention and Control Act got them banned. No candy or fruit flavored cigarettes. I don’t know if anyone ever started smoking the real ones because of the candy…certainly never interested me…but I think the ban is a good thing…What do we need that kind of candy for….especially when you’ve got Milk Duds and Jujyfruits….which are my all time favorite!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And speaking of all time favorites…..Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is 36 on Saturday….
You never ever read anything bad on him……In high school, he was president of the Latin Club and he never ever cusses….

Ok, so maybe I don’t want to see Grown-ups…..Terrible review this morning in the Mercury. One star….stupid jokes and outright silliness….and the last line the reviewer writes” They’re just killing time on screen…slowly and painfully.”   Plus Rob Schneider and David Spade are in it. That was my line. I don’t like either one of them but I love Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Chris Rock.

Guess I will go see Knight and Day. Because if I don’t and you don’t it won’t make enough money and Tom Cruise won’t be allowed to make Mission Impossible-4.
Yeah, that’s what they say…that he if he doesn’t bring in a lot of money, they’re not going to risk another high budget film on him. Maybe Cameron Diaz will save the day!!!!

You know what’s getting rave reviews? Joan Rivers docu-movie – Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work. It’s playing at Santana Row and Camera 7. I love her, but I’ll think I’ll wait for it on Comcast.

Finally summer again this weekend….Warm, Warm Warm.
If you’re bored go to KBAY.Com.
Bunch of fun things going on. Just a tip if you’re going to the San Jose Giants game on Sunday and we’ve got a great discount on line, wear lots of sun screen, dress coolly  and wear a hat….That sun is right on top of you….and there’s not much shade. But heck…...is it ever fun!!!!

So the day has arrived. Sam is taking some time off…to get a new knee.
Yeah....it’s amazing what you can buy today. I go shopping for a new purse and he for a new knee. I wonder if it’s a “Coach”…lol!!!! And it seems to be more involved than a “boobie” job as you get sent home after those and he is actually staying in the hospital for a couple of days. Lucky Carol-his wife--…because you know how men are when they’re recovering (ha ha). I told him to make sure they put the knee in the right place. And on the right leg. You never know. He could come end up walking backwards….Not sure what day he’s coming back…Hope it won’t be long….Two days should be enough, don’t you think? Nah..it will be a little longer than that…but when he does return he’ll not only be Sam but he’ll be the Bionic Sam. Yeah…we are going to miss him. He’s my better half!!!!

Is this ever true…a story this morning on Ladies Night Out…that it takes the average group of women 3 days, 5 hours and 22 minutes to organize one night out. During the planning, women will swap 16 texts, five phone calls, three Facebook postings and 3 e- mails planning their get together. A typical ladies night out involves about 4 women. Now when I get together with my 8 lady friends from Morgan Hill,  it could take weeks to just agree on a date that we can all get together which is why we book our annual weekend away while we’re at the current weekend away…yep …a year ahead of time.
That’s really the only way we can guarantee we’ll all be there. What was that movie with Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn?…Same time Next year…. That’s us…
Just mentioning that movie makes me want to watch it again. I’ve seen it so many times over the years. It’s a classic…… I think their names were Doris and George.

Heard this morning that ABC is already set with a Jake and Vienna break up interview for the Bachelorette episode on July 5th. Well, they’d better tell her to stop talking to everyone. She was actually crying last night on one of the entertainment shows…saying “a woman needs to be shown love and he just wouldn’t go near her….I think he’s still going with the cheating charge….but I also read that she wanted fame to come to her and wasn’t willing to work for it (like he obviously was) Hopefully after the 5th..they’ll both fade into the background. At least she gave him the 3 carat ring back…because he has to now give it back to the producers who have to give it back to the jeweler!!!!
After all, they need it back by the Ali finale so someone can give it to her….ha ha.

My friend Tracy who works at the San Jose Mineta Airport gets to go to the fancy gala tonite for the celebration of the billion dollar upgrade. Invite only..but she got one..
There’s a big open house at the new terminal this weekend. You had to preregister and 10,000 people did. It’s now sold out so you’ll have to be like me and wait for your next flight. Terminal B opens on the 30th.

Still have openings though for tomorrow nite’s Studio 94 Dance Party. Go to KBAY.Com.

This has been making the rounds….but we just got to it this morning… That it cost almost a quarter of a million dollars to raise your child until age 17……and  that
doesn’t include what it costs to have your baby or what it costs after your child graduates high school. And since my youngest Christina goes to Cal Poly…a CSU..that price changes almost daily. Found out last Friday, it had gone up by another $200.

But yeah….222 thousand dollars from infant to 17.
Almost makes you think twice, doesn’t it—LOL ….. NEVER!!!!
And actually I’m looking at the breakdown….a third of that is for housing…
17% child care and education….16% food…..13% transportation…9% miscellaneous
8% health care and 6 % clothing. I have two daughters…who are so into clothes, purses and shoes..that I think I just went over the 222k mark… Oy Veh!!!!

Speaking of daughters, she would love to see the movie out on DVD today and most likely on Comcast as well. Remember Me starring Twilight’s Robert Pattinson who is a young rebel who falls for a cop’s daughter. Since my daughter Christina isn’t reading this I can tell you unlike Twilight, he really acts in this one…LOL …She and I saw it…and it was better than I expected. Shocking ending though. You never expect what happens and I will warn you once it’s over you can’t move for a minute or two…that’s how surprising it is.

Have you heard that stupid idea….California to raise money is thinking about selling license plates to advertisers. So whenever you’re stopped for at least 4 seconds..your license plate would turn into a blinking message for a company. Can you imagine how many more accidents there would be? How distracting is that?. Sam and I were thinking though that some our traffic jams are so long…they could advertise nursing homes and burial plans…OUCH

Don’t you love this warm weather? Will start to cool down a bit tomorrow, but not by much. Mid 70s-low 80s just perfect!!! We’re finally into summer.
In fact, here are the top 10 words of summer---according to Mirriam-Webster.
Vacation, Perspiration or Sweat as Sam and Lissa would say, Picnic, Solstice, Ketchup, Dog Days, Barbecue, Dandelion, Marshmallow and Frisbee.
Some of those are weird…how about suntan or sunburn, ice cream, swimming, and ice-cold soda!!!!

Oh..and Great America too..That’s a perfect place for summertime. We’ll give you a chance for free tickets tomorrow morning at 7:20.

Its official…we like our dogs more than we like our parents.
Says it right here…..Pew Research Center….94 percent of people with dogs say they feel close to Fido…while only 87 percent say the same about their Mom…and even less feel close to their dad.

Cats fall in the middle…at 84%. So basically, the pecking order goes:
Dog, Mom, Cat, Dad. Happy Day-After Fathers Day!!!!!

Since we’re talking pets…..here are five fun facts about Cat People (me) and
Dog People (you)

Even if you own cats AND dogs, you'd probably describe yourself as either a CAT PERSON or a DOG PERSON. But if you're not sure WHAT you are, here are five facts about cats and dogs, and the people who own them . . .

1.) HEALTHIER PEOPLE OWN DOGS. They say dog owners generally have lower blood pressure and lower cholesterol. And they also don't get sick as much.

2.) CAT OWNERS ARE WELL-EDUCATED. They say people with cats are more likely to have college degrees than people who own dogs.

3.) OWNING A DOG IS MORE EXPENSIVE. But not by much. The average lifespan of a dog is 12 to 14 years. Over that time, each dog costs anywhere between $6,000 and $13,000 on average.

--Most cats live nine to 15 years, and if it's an INDOOR cat, it costs between $9,000 and $11,000. So, basically the same.

--OUTDOOR cats are a lot cheaper though. They cost between $2,000 and $4,000, partly because you don't have to buy kitty litter. And partly because sometimes they find their OWN meals. YUCK!!!!

But just remember, a child till age 18 costs 220,000 so it’s a bargain.

4.) THE SMARTEST DOGS ARE: Doberman pinchers, border collies, golden retrievers, German shepherds, and poodles. But CATS are pretty much all the same. No one breed is smarter than another.

5.) MORE PEOPLE OWN CATS. 78 million Americans own dogs. 94 million Americans own cats. But we've had dogs for twice as long. Cats were domesticated about 7,000 years ago. Dogs have been living with us for over 14,000 years.

All I can say is I can’t imagine not having my cats Tobey Tobes, Chloey or even Daisy the Shitzu.

Hey….did you see Toy Story 3 over the weekend? I just absolutely loved it. And what an ending!!!! (bring Kleenex) I’ve got to go see it again.

And after watching Friday Night lights this week, I will say it again…..that is one of the best shows on TV. Sam in fact told me this morning…he’s a little tired of me telling him it is one of the best shows on TV—LOL!!!!!

Things to listen for this week…Great America tickets…and we each morning will give you another chance to get behind the velvet ropes for Friday night’s Studio 94 at Villa Ragusa in Campbell..Oh..Friday night…I’ll have to make sure I DVR Friday Night Lights…LOL!!!!!!

Of all the Father’s Day snip-its Sam and I looked at this morning this
was the sweetest. Made me tear up…..
What is a woman’s most memorable Dad moment? You ready?

Walking down the aisle on her wedding day. Yep, sadly with Mike gone my girls will have to walk down the aisle with me. And I already know I will be a mess!!!!Plus..I’m a good 6 inches shorter than both of them. Won’t be good…LOL!!!
Next on the memory list for daughters….shooting hoops together or playing catch outside and then a long road trip to her faraway college or new home. Reminds me of that scene in the Sopranos when Tony is taking Meadow to look at colleges and while she’s doing the tours, he’s killing people. Okay…so he wasn’t Father of the Year!!

Now to sons…their best father memory….fishing with their dads. However one in 28 men say their favorite father son memory was getting Dad another beer.

And maybe you’ve seen this before…but it always brings a smile.
You know you’re a dad when:
   Before: Gap

After: Baby Gap

Before: Sponge baths with your wife

After: SpongeBob with the kids

Before: 45 minutes of sex in the back seat

After: 45 minutes installing baby's car seat

   Before: Universal Remote

After: Baby Monitor

Before: Happy Hour at TGIFridays

After: Happy Hour when baby goes down for a nap

And this is a Fathers Day tradition….. Most accurate TV Dad:
I just wish they’d update it because most of these TV characters are “so yesterday”

1. Dan Conner from Roseanne
2. Cliff Huxtable from the Cosby Show
3..A tie between Alan Harper from "Two and a Half Men," and Ray Barone of "Everybody Loves Raymond"
4.Robbie Stewart from Hannah Montana (Is that Billy Ray Cyrus?)
5.Ward Cleaver from “Leave it to Beaver" (3.77 percent)

And finally…What do Dads really want to do to celebrate Fathers Day?
A third say…have the day all to themselves.

Hey….maybe he can do that on Sunday..and then Monday if he can get off work…
Take him to Happy Hollow Park & Zoo in San Jose. They’re offering free admission to all Fathers on Monday – the day after Father’s Day. A fun day…to see the new park and zoo– enjoy the animals, ride the Carousel or just relax on a bench under the trees! Now you’re talking!!!!

Hope it’s a great weekend….and Monday will better than usual. First day of summer and at 7:10…we’ll try and give you a head start on Mountain Winery Monday so you can win your tickets to Earth, Wind and Fire.

Both Sam and I looked at this story this morning and just started cracking up…
Steve Wilson, an employee for DoodyCalls Pet Waste Removal in St. Louis, may be the most honest person in the world. He was picking up dog poop when he noticed some
bills sticking out of it. He didn't know what to do at first, but he eventually pulled out the
money, sanitized it, put it in a zip-lock bag and returned it to the customer. It was $58. The
money was torn, but the serial numbers were readable, so a bank could be forced to replace
them with new bills. The Association of Professional Animal Waste Specialists says Wilson is
the first known member of the profession to find and report money in dog poop.  Steve says it’s no big deal….”he was just doing his doody”.
Well, maybe it was funnier at 5:30 in the morning…LOL

Here’s a shocker--NOT—that this year’s Idols Live Tour is struggling to sell tickets.
Don’t know anything about the Shoreline show this summer, but ticket sales are reportedly so bad in some cities the concerts are being moved from huge arenas to smaller theaters.
Be honest…Can you name the top 10 on tour? Okay, what about the top 5? Okay, what about anyone other than Lee or Crystal?

And what about this…Oprah is no longer Queen of Daytime TV. Her ratings put her behind Judge Judy for the most watched daytime show on TV. Maybe she should have quit a season earlier….

You missed a good one last nite if you didn’t watch the show on CBS .TV’s Top 30
Greatest Surprises from the past 60 years. They showed scenes like Lucy stomping grapes, Ellen coming out on “Ellen”, Bobby’s shower scene in Dallas and also the Dream scene in the Bob Newhart Show. I actually saw just the last half hour, but it covered the top ten….and yes, some of these were really shockers:

10. Future President Clinton plays saxophone on “The Arsenio Hall Show”
9. Marie drives car through the wall on “Everybody Loves Raymond”
8. Burning helicopter kills Dr. Romano on “ER”
7. Pregnant Texan Jessica Robinson wins the first million on “Deal or No Deal”
6. Rosalind Shays falls down elevator shaft on “L.A. Law”
5. John Carpenter uses Lifeline to call his father and announce he’s about to win the million on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”
4. Mark Harmon’s secret service agent is killed in a convenience store robbery on “The West Wing”
3. Marie Osmond faints on live TV after the Samba on “Dancing with the Stars”
2. Agent Todd is shot in the head after taking a bullet for Gibbs on “NCIS”
1. Sept. 13, 2004 on “The Oprah Winfrey Show”: Oprah gives all 276 audience members a car. Value? Over $7 million

Sam and Lissa every morning…priceless!!!!! See you tomorrow….

Don’t know how we overlooked this when we were talking about
big events in time this morning…On this day in 1978 we were all going to see Grease starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John….It was High School Musical way before High School Musical. And they are re releasing it this summer in Sing-Along form, with the song lyrics on the screen. You thought Mamma Mia was fun….wait until this!!!!! And it will be the original movie so we don’t have to see and hear Pierce Brosnan sing!!!!

Not sure what this guy was thinking….but in 1929 Otto E. Funk walked from New York City to San Francisco. He traveled 4,165 miles in 183 days …playing his violin the whole time. And here I thought it was a big deal when I walked the 1.7 miles across the Golden Gate Bridge a few weeks ago…oh..and 1.7 miles back. Sam and I were remembering silly things we did. Sam tried to walk to San Francisco when he was a kid. Think he made it to San Mateo or something and turned back. I played the Violin …which was silly enough. I stunk.

Okay, what about AL Gore. You believe he had a 2 year affair on Tipper?
Would have been easier though it he allegedly dated someone we were a little
more familiar with. Every time I told a girlfriend…Laurie David…they said who?
She is the ex wife of TV guy Larry David and also was a producer on Al’s documentary “An Inconvenient Truth”. Star Magazine broke the story. I’m waiting to see if People Magazine has it next…. If so….gotta believe it—LOL!!!!

Love the fight that’s going on now between reality “stars” Betthaney Frankel and Omarosa. Betthaney was on the View playing down Omarosa’s “star” as a reality queen and Omarosa fought back by saying Betthaney’s new husband is gay and that she had a tummy tuck to lose her baby fight….Love the claws!!!
And the next Real Housewife is going to be Michaele Salahi..the woman who with her husband snuck into a White House Party a few months back. Bravo did indeed hire her for the Real Housewives of D-C starting in August. Got to thinking how a few months ago the crashing of the White House party was all anyone was talking about and now it’s the BP mess. Wish we could go back in time.

Here’s something good we can all do….Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties has set up SHARE YOUR LUNCH.NET. $10 can feed 20 children this summer…. You forget that when school gets out for the summer a lot of local kids lose the one meal they can count on….and we’re talking a lot of kids…85,000
kids a month miss out on their school lunch. That might be the best $10 you spend.
Sam and I went online this morning….takes just a few seconds. Makes you feel like you’re doing something good…..and you are!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So in case you missed our stellar show this morning…LOL
We were cracking up over lies women tell women…
Your haircut looks…great (C. Fiorina to B.Boxer)
Yes, I’d love to be a bridesmaid in your wedding (and wear that god awful green dress).
You’re better off without him (Can I have his phone number)
Of course, I won’t tell anyone (It’s already too late)
These are great; I want the recipe (worst crud I’ve ever eaten)
I’m not mad (I’m mad)

And then there was the pork question…..With less people eating pork and more people eating chicken they’re trying to get a new slogan to replace “The Other White Meat”.
Put Pork on Your Fork is already used in Canada….and Pork: The One you Love was offending people so …..we looked to you…
Pork Up
Pork Out
Go Pork Yourself..
Uncork the Pork…
Not Just for Luau’s (yes…a listener had just come back from Hawaii)
Or as Sam’s Facebook Friend said…..why not just use “Pork”

Why does this guy keep getting gigs? Bachelor Jake will guest star (if you want to call it that) on Lifetimes Legal drama…”Drop Dead Diva” this season… He’ll play a reality TV show Bachelor who rejects one woman after another, sparking a lawsuit. Hmmmmmmm!!!!!

Not sure I like this idea because it will take her off “Army Wives”. They’re thinking of doing a spinoff involving Pamela’s character. If you watched Sunday night, she is up for a job in the Atlanta Police Department. I guess she gets it because her assigned partner is actress Gabrielle Union who was on the cancelled Flash Forward. The spinoff would star her and the gal who plays Pamela. I love Army Wives, although I’m not thrilled that they had her and her husband get divorced. Sad plus he is one handsome guy and I’m guessing he won’t be on as much anymore.

And sorry Dina has left the New Jersey Housewives. Why couldn’t Danielle have quit?…Oh.. stupid question….the show is all she has going for her…Can’t stand that woman.

That is your TV Guide Update!!!!!!

Sam and I got a sneak peek at tomorrow’s KBAY Connection Newsletter.
There’s always free stuff featured, but you’re going to love what we’re giving away this week….It will make you feel WICKED….bad hint….

How cool is this?Newsweek every year picks the best public high schools
In the country. The list is based on academics….and how much of a challenge the students are given…ie…college level courses and tests .Look at us…
We “done good”. 1600 public schools make the list…which is only 6 percent of all schools in the country… and in San Jose….we’ve got these;
          Mission San Jose(Fremont)#169
          Lynbrook #212
          Hill #390
          Evergreen Valley #731
          Pioneer #1017
          Lincoln #1032
          Overfelt# 1041
          Silver Creek #1075
          San Jose High Academy #1348

If yours didn’t make it, I will tell you certain public schools aren’t considered….they’re considered too elite for this list. And I’m sure if they considered private schools Presentation High would have been named….LOL!!!! Sorry….that’s what happens when your daughters went to the school…and you happen to be on the Board of Trustees…I sneak them in when I can…..LOL!!!!

But very cool to have so many local schools highlighted…….very, very impressive.
I may need to renew my Newsweek subscription….

Hate to spoil the wonderful world of learning, by bringing this up but I will be glued to the TV tonite…No..not the Bachelorette although I finally got caught up over the weekend. How many more weeks does she have to be nice to the “weatherman”. He is a royal nerd!!! But tonite at 7 is the Real Housewives of New Jersey. If you watch, I’m sure you can guess which Housewife is leaving forever…and then it’s followed by Reunion Part 2 for the New York Housewives.  I almost can’t watch it in one sitting. These women are so mean to each other and there is so much “angst” on the show you almost need to take breathers. By the time the hour is over your stomach is tied in knots.  And last night, the Kardashian spin off started for the new season…Khloe and Kourtney take on Miami… Went by too quickly..that one is only a half an hour..I guess for good reason—ha ha!!!

Gotta share this because this is so true. The study that you’re happier when you’re planning a vacation than on the vacation itself. Think about it…you work so hard on planning the perfect trip, that it’s a letdown when you actually live it. And when you get home, it’s like you never went. Even if it was great, there’s no lingering happiness once work starts crushing your soul again….OMG!!!!!

Looking for fun this Friday night? We’ve got the Toy Story 3 Premiere at Camera7 –Pruneyard. Not to late to try and get on the guest list at KBAY.Com.

In the country. The list is based on academics….and how much of a challenge the students are given…ie…college level courses and tests .Look at us…
We “done good”. 1600 public schools make the list…which is only 6 percent of all schools in the country… and in San Jose….we’ve got these;
                                                           Mission San Jose(Fremont)#169

Will the A-Team put the Karate chop on the “Kid” this weekend?  Will be interesting to see how much money these two movies make? I don’t think Sam and I are going to make it to the theater, so if you go give us a call Monday (800-948-5229(KBAY). We’ll let you be our official reviewer.

You know who’s in the A-Team? Bradley Cooper. I can’t get enough of him (Hangover-5 times)  and he said the other day he couldn’t believe how great he looked in the movie….I guess he got really buff…..I think he’s without a shirt a lot…… Yeah..I do need to go see that……

The summer movie I really want to see is next weekend Toy Story 3. We’re giving away tickets for the movie premiere on Friday night at Camera 7 Pruneyard. Go to KBAY.Com
and try to get on the guest list. We could see it together…

Camera 7 is making the whole weekend a big event….with all sorts of fun stuff and freebies…I guess a lot of theaters are doing something big. .At Hollywood High School…they set up a Toy Story carnival last night and a Ferris wheel got stuck…people were trapped 60 feet high for 3 hours… I would have invented new swear words!!!!

Don’t know if you’re into World Cup Soccer or not…I think I’m not, but I can play along with the best of them.  Sam says the loser of the U-S England match has to accept Madonna as a full-time resident…and they say you really don’t have to drink 7 pints of black beer to enjoy it, but it helps….

Hope you have an air conditioner this weekend and if you don’t that you go somewhere that does. Just no complaining about the heat…we’ve waited too long to get to summer!!!!!

Make sure you’re back with us Monday morning at 7:10 for Mt Winery Monday.
We’ll give you the clues as to when to listen to win your REO Speedwagon tickets.

Geez…a double whammy this morning if you’ve got a kid in college at one of the CSU’s…and I’m thinking you’re not in any better shape if your kid goes to a UC.
Fees this past year went up about a thousand dollars. Every time I paid for Christina’s quarter at Cal Poly ahead of time…It turned out never to be enough. I would have to send another check for her to register for classes because they had raised fees again and now they’re thinking of another 5-10 percent hike for the fall. She was going to take a couple of classes this summer….$2000.  Now, they’re probably cancelling the classes she was going to take which is even worse because with all the cutbacks  she probably wont be able to graduate in June....and if she graduates in December, teaching jobs will be next to impossible to get…(as if you can get one now!!)….oh don’t get me started!!!!. She has worked so hard to graduate on time and probably won’t make it…and through no fault of her own…oh…..don’t get me started!!!!!.

And here’s the other bad news for Mom and Dad…. It looks like this summer will be the worst in years for teens looking for work…..in fact they say teens will face the worst job market in 41 years!
2 reasons why…..
A lot of jobs that would normally go to 16-to-19-year-olds are being taken byadults who are out of work, and many spots that usually hire summer workers --like theme parks, hotels and restaurants—don’t need as much help.  One teen called this morning and said she’s doing house cleaning…mainly for friends and relatives but heck it’s a job…and at $10-12 an hour…Yucky work though if you ask me but good for her…for doing it. And a mom called. She hired her teenage niece to take care of her kids for the summer….$150 a week…but no she doesn’t do yard work…that would have been a bonus..LOL. In fact, do any teens do yard work anymore?

Finally have to share this story. You may be able to relate…Happened in Scotland.
22 year old was walking the other night when three men in a car called her over.
When she got close to the car, one of the guys grabbed her Louis Vuitton purse…and the driver sped off. She wouldn’t let go of the purse…No Kidding!!!
She was dragged behind the car, but held on tight until the thugs finally gave up and turned her loose….She ended up with only minor injuries…and her purse wasn’t damaged at all… Share that one with a girlfriend!!!!

Family time…..what’s that? UCLA spent 3 years filming 30 families in L.A.
Each family had at least 2 kids and both parents worked full time jobs…
And what did they find out about the typical family?

1.) WORKING MOMS SPENT 27% OF THEIR TIME CLEANING AND DOING CHORES, COMPARED TO 18% FOR DADS. The kids only spent 3% of their time on chores. And it didn't make a difference if they got an allowance.
The dads also sat on their butts more than moms.

2.) THE ENTIRE FAMILY WAS TOGETHER IN THE SAME ROOM JUST 14% OF THE TIME. But the parents spent a lot of ONE-ON-ONE time with their kids.
Just in different rooms, I guess…LOL!!!

3.) THE PARENTS DIDN'T GET MUCH ALONE TIME. While they were home, working moms and dads only spent 10% of their time alone in the same room together. That's not including the time they spent sleeping.

When you see it on paper it doesn’t sound very good, does it?

SO my daughters think I’m a cat lady…which I’m not. I have just 2. But I do love them to pieces especially my Tobey-Tobes. I can’t get enough of him, unless its midnight and he’s right next to me purring in my ear!!!

But here’s the reason why so many of us are crazy about our cats. We’ve been infected with a parasite.. No joke…a UC-Santa Barbara researcher says you get it from changing the cat litter….and that it goes straight to your brain and messes with your personality….but its not necessarily a bad thing…MOST of the time it makes us a better cat owner…Women who get infected tend to be warm, outgoing, and attentive…Men though get less intelligent and more boring….ha ha..
Yeah...Another reason why men should own dogs and women cats

By the way…they say if we are exposed to the parasite too often…you can end up developing Schizophrenia…. I THINK YOU NEED TO OWN A LOT OF CATS FOR THAT TO HAPPEN!!!!! 2 IS FINE….

KBAY Connection newsletter went out this morning…Got my marching orders…
And I hope you can join me….We’re doing another movie premiere …..And this time for the movie I think everyone wants to see…Toy Story 3. It’s next Friday.
Go to KBAY.Com…try and get on the guest list… I can’t wait!!!!

Dreaming about vacation today….Saw this survey from American Express…yes
American Express so I don’t really think it represents the average person…but Amex claims the typical family of 4 will spend $4000 on vacation this year. WOW!!!
We all want to be in that family right?
Sam’s got a time share in the mountains and he’s going water skiing. I am going to Disneyland with friends in July and in September I am taking the girls to Oahu…yes to use that wonderful time share I bought last year….which I must confess is not so wonderful. I guess I didn’t plan early enough. I got it for just 4 days…and used up a years points, so we’re going to a hotel for the other 4 days…I don’t think that’s how the time share is supposed to work. How many people can plan and book a year ahead of time?  You’d think I could with the kids all grown but it’s even harder now. Next summer is
going to be the “big vacation”. I’m already saving. I told Christina I would take her to Spain for her college graduation although with all the state budget cutbacks she may not be graduating in June anymore. She doesn’t think she can get all of her classes in time.
SO maybe I’ll have a longer time to save LOL!!!!

You have big plans this summer? Jennifer called this morning. She’s going to Disneyland and Gilroy Gardens. She said the trip to Gilroy is a family tradition. Now, if you can get off work next Friday, it’s the 10th anniversary at Gilroy Gardens. They’ve got $10 tickets and the first 1000 kids get in free. You have to get the discount though at KBAY.Com…so don’t forget to do that before you head out there. I can’t believe that place is ten years old. I remember being there the first day it opened when it was called Bonfante Gardens.

If you’ll be flying somewhere you may not want to wait to book your tickets because fares may be going higher rather lower. I read that American, Delta, Continental and US AIR have added surcharges to almost all of their flights from June 10th through August 23rd…ten to 30 dollars each way .and why…because they can LOL!!!
Sundays have the highest surcharges, while Tuesday and Wednesday travel is the least expensive. Figures!!!!!

Certainly no such thing as a cheap ride anymore…. or even a cheap vacation.!!!!!

I don’t know what you did this weekend? But I got the stupid idea of going to buy a new bathing suit. I didn’t really need one. I don’t have a backyard to tan in…I don’t have any friends with great pools and I’m not going to Hawaii until September. Plus I have a whole drawer of swimsuits, but I went to Macys anyway. They were having a sale.
And all it did was totally depress me. First off I went with my good friend Janette who looks a lot better in a suit than I do, plus since it was so crowded and I was given the “big” dressing room, we tried on suits together……same dressing room…Big mistake. Never ever try on a suit with a friend who looks better than you do…LOL!!! Although I should point out she is 4 years younger than me. Anyway to make a long story short…we both bought suits and neither one was on sale (naturally) and I probably won’t even wear it until September and by then it probably would have been on sale…ha ha..

Now I remember why surveys show people would rather get a root canal than go swimsuit shopping.

By the way…what is about bathing suits…..that no one hangs them up? They try them, on and just leave them on the floor and by the end of the day there is a pile of bathing suits…that probably includes one that is just your size. No one you can’t find anything on the racks. I feel so sorry for the clerks who work in this department….It must take them hours to clean out those dressing rooms. Once you have a daughter working retail or you have, you tend to hang the suits back up and bring them to the rack outside.

You watch the Real Housewives of New Jersey? It’s on tonight. Of all the housewife reality shows, it is my favorite. Well, Teresa the one who turned over the table last season at a restaurant because she was mad at Danielle is in quite a bit of money trouble. Reportedly she and her husband Joe who wants to keep having babies have filed for bankruptcy. They owe 12.8 million dollars and listed an annual income of 79 thousand dollars.  I read she gets just 35k for doing the Housewives and I guess his construction business isn’t doing well.. Debts include business investments, mortgages on 3 homes. They live in a palace. Also listed as debt, fertility treatment and credit card payments to Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. She’s famous for taking her 3 little girls to a boutique and in minutes spending thousands of dollars on them. Wonder if they’ll deal with this on the show. I will keep watching….

If you missed out on Mountain Winery Monday….and the Diana Ross concert tickets for this weekend before you know it, it will be Monday again. We’ve got a whole summer of concerts. 7:10 is when we give the hours for you to listen for the guest artist. We’ve got details at KBAY.Com and while you’re at it….try and get on the guest list for our big dance party June 25th at  Villa Ragusa in Campbell.

Saturday is “New Seniors Day’
It’s an exclusive club…You’ve got to be 65!!! Which is the new 40…or maybe the new 50!!! Remember how old our parents seemed when they were 65? And of course that was way before Oil of Olay!!!! I can’t remember my Mom using anything to soften the wrinkles. She died at a very young age….67, but she did have really good skin and I think I have inherited it.  She wasn’t like most other Moms though…she did act young….maybe even crazy. SO I guess I inherited that from her too… but yes..todays 65 is very different from yesterdays 65…..

In fact…in the U-S somebody turns 65 every ten seconds…
Sam will be in good company this coming year…because look at this list of celebrities turning 65. Kim Carnes and her Bette Davis eyes. Loni Anderson, Mia Farrow, Don McLean, Tom Selleck, Diane Sawyer, Eric Clapton, Steve Martin, Davy Jones, Anne Murray, Bette Midler…

By 2015….New Seniors will account for a third of disposable income and over half of the nation’s wealth.

I’m thinking…Hallmark had better get on top of this “holiday” With the price of cards these days, they could make millions…

So getting back to us “youngins” who watch shows like “The Hills”…
Here’s a shocker for “us”…..In Touch Magazine says it’s all a fake..that the shows producers meddle in the actor’s lives to cause drama for the show…and Kristin Cavallari is writing a tell-all book when her contract is up. She’s got to make money some-how. After all, she’s no Speidi….And the latest on them is not good…that this whole break up between Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt is a fake …made up by Spencer to somehow keep people talking about them…Hope it works though..because if it doesn’t..he may get her more plastic surgery..and the only thing left to work on are her toes!!!!

Pretty exciting stuff starting Monday.
Mountain Winery Monday…and we’ll be doing it through the summer…  At 7:10, we’ll tell you which artist to listen for and at what hour, and when you hear his or song you call 1 800 948-5229 (KBAY).  I think we take caller 25. You win the concert tickets and go have one heck of a great time out at the Mountain Winery. That has got to be the best venue for a summertime concert…You’re under the stars….your surroundings are beautiful and serene…..and heck there’s WINE!!!!

All you have to do is say ice cream..and everyone wants a scoop.
Sam’s a big ice cream eater…or he is when he’s not dieting.
I’m more interested in frozen yogurt. In fact, there’s a place by my house called Whimsical that Tori and I like to go to. Every 7th cup…you get a free one…and let me tell you for the free ones…we pile that cup high!!!!! There’s also a great ice cream-yogurt shop on Lincoln in Willow Glen, right next to Willow Street Pizza.

But there’s still nothing like Thrifty ice cream…Just ask our listeners. Yes..did you go to Thrifty drugstore when you were a kid and get a scoop for 15 cents? I think it was 10 cents when I was a kid. Sam says it was a nickel for him. Well, Tina called this morning..it’s now $1.29.,..but the same ice cream (Thrifty) just a different chain..Rite-Aid. I said on the air this morning the Rite-Aid at Meridian and Hamilton had ice cream…but as Sam said I had the “wrong-aid”…We were quickly set straight by ice cream fanatics….It’s sold at the Rite-Aids at Meridian and Hamilton, Winchester and Payne and Santa Teresa and Cottle.

What started all this is the Consumer Reports that said when its come to store bought vanilla and chocolate…Target’s Archer Farms is just about as good as Haagen-Dazs or even Ben and Jerry’s but a third of the price. They specified the Archer Farms Belgian Chocolate. One listener her favorite ice cream growing up was Foremost’s Checkerboard—Chocolate and Vanilla. Remember that…you would want to slice it instead of scoop it so it really looked cool on your plate. Someone else said she used to live up in the Pacific Northwest and they had Tillamook Ice Cream…which sounded yummy until I started thinking about their Cheddar Cheese. Tillamook makes great Cheddar Cheese ..but cheddar cheese ice cream doesn’t sound so good!!!!

TV bulletin…...Tonites the finale of New York Housewives. Actually, I’m glad. Just too much craziness and fighting this season…not much love. I’m glad Betthany is off next season….and I wouldn’t mind if they dropped Sonja. She came out of nowhere and
I see over the Memorial Day weekend she got arrested on DUI charges. She ran a stop sign in her BMW. Failed the field sobriety test …and was released a few hours later.
Actually they need some revamping of that show…..The New Jersey Housewives are my favorite…..except for Danielle. She is one horrible person…

Sam and I were commiserating this morning over the lack of TV shows to watch now.
He’s got his Giants….which isn’t a bad thing unless it’s Friday nights and NBC11 ends up not showing Friday Night Lights.
But Mike called this morning to rave about 2 shows that are actually on tonite…
Royal Pains and Burn Notice. You may want to try them out.

Glad to see I’m not the only one shocked at the break up of Al and Tipper Gore after 40 years of marriage. What is this world coming to!!!!!LOL. And they told their friends through an e-mail. Oh my!!!! They both said no affairs…just they had grown apart.
I’m wondering if the other shoe might drop in coming weeks.
(let’s hope Rielle Hunter isn’t about to name her next baby “Little Al”) Just a joke!!!!
Ironically, their marriage has entered an Ice Age.
His body’s too “Global”. And she’s not “Warming" to it.
She’s from Venus….he’s from Milky Ways and Mars Bars...
Okay….I’ll stop!!!!!!

Did you watch America’s Got Talent last night?  I just couldn’t get into it.
I’m not ready I guess for another new reality show involving a talent competition that starts the week after the end of Idol and Dancing. It’s on again tonight too. I’ll probably start to watch once they whittle down the acts to 20. Howie Mandel though seemed like a good replacement for Hasselhoff. It’s Nick Cannon I just don’t get. He’s just too much for me. Plus he’s wearing the same crazy jackets he did last year. I so can not see him married to Mariah Carey. He just seems so young!!!!

Rocker Bret Michaels (Superman) is sure getting a lot of attention as a possible replacement for Simon Cowell on Idol. I wonder if it’s really true that the show is indeed interested in him. Polls taken by the nighttime entertainment TV shows show most people like the idea and he says he would jump at the job. Heck, I didn’t even know who he was before he got so sick.

Went to the Giants game Monday after my first ever walk across the Golden Gate Bridge.
And I’m still waiting to go to the bathroom…LOL. It was the third inning and there was a line outside the woman’s restroom that must have been 50 deep. And the men’s bathroom next door…no one..JUST WRONG!!!! You know at HP Pavilion, the line into the women’s is always long too, but for some reason it moves very very quickly…much faster than the one at ATand T.   My other observation….why is it they have vendors in the stands selling malts and drinks in the 9th inning. Sam says to get rid of what ever is left. But I noticed there was no half-off price….So that’s stupid!!!

We know half off at KBAY though..a $50 movie package for $25..Go to KBAY.COM and cash in…

The only good thing about the end of a 3 day holiday…..
A 4 day work week….and not only that …we have another holiday in just one month... July 4th. The 4th is on a Sunday this year, so we get the 5th off.

Does seem like we finally have a summer. I know it was cloudy this morning, but we’ve got a whole week with no rain in the forecast and temps in the 70s to 80s.
Don’t know if you’ve started working on your vacation. I made reservations over the weekend to go to Hawaii…and use the time share. (that I foolishly bought last year—yep…buyers remorse)  I haven’t made plane reservations yet and I read this morning that there may not be many bargains…that airlines are tacking on surcharges like crazy.
And just about every carrier now, except maybe Southwest, is charging for luggage. So all of a sudden, if you’re buying 4 tickets you’re paying an additional $100 or more to check in a suitcase per person.   And don’t you dare go over the weight limit!!!! That’s another $25 or even $50. They’ve got you coming and going, that’s for sure!!!!

Where has this year gone? June First already. Next Monday we will start Mountain Winery Mondays and the weekly ticket giveaways for the summer concert series. We have a bunch of listeners going to the Goo Goo Dolls tonite and the soundcheck party before the show. Just a taste of what’s to come.   And see if any of these “momentous” occasions strike your fancy…It’s Adopt-a-Shelter Cat Month, International Men's Month, International Surf Music Month, Rebuild Your Life Month, Sports America Kids Month, Candy Month, Dairy Month, Gay Pride Month, National Accordion Awareness Month, National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month, Rose Month. Beginning of Fishing Week, International Volunteer's Week, Step-Parent's Week. Also the beginning of National Soul Food Month, Potty Training Awareness Month, National Ice Tea Month. National Sun Safety Week.
I like the Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. We did that with our Tobey Tobes.
And Potty Training Awareness Month may come in handy one of these days soon…LOL.

What did we start watching on TV ten years ago this week? Reality Shows…starting with Survivor. Yep..that was the very first reality show. Remember, Mr. Naked Butt Richard Hatch won the million? Since then, we’ve been “blessed” with Big Brother. I love that every summer and I saw yesterday it starts up again July 8th. We’ve also got Amazing Race, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, American Idol and all the dancing shows. And tonight, America’s Got Talent starts with Howe Mandel taking over for David Hasselhoff.
I think he’ll be a better replacement than Ellen has been for Paula Abdul on Idol.

Whether or not you have a long holiday weekend, you’ve got to love the fact that the
storms are gone!!!! We’ve got sunny weather at least through next Thursday and hopefully we’re done with the rain until the fall. Just seeing that blue sky and feeling
The sun has put both Sam and me into a great mood. It does help that he gets to spend the long weekend in Carmel with his wife Carol. And that Friday night I’m seeing Sex and the City 2 with 11 ladies…Yes..I too am wondering how we will all get to sit together.
I don’t care about the bad reviews…It’s a time to be with girlfriends..laugh..have a Cosmo and watch 4 women on screen have fun. Seeing Chris Noth (Big) and John Corbett (Aiden) are a bonus… I heard the Liza Minelli “Single Ladies” is terrible but I know we’ll be laughing. To me…..it’s all about the experience!!

Did see some funny lines on a better title for the movie:
“Sisterhood of the Traveling Support Hose”
“I now pronounce you too old to be taking your clothes off in the Movies”
“The Olden Girls”
“Predator vs.Cougar”
“The Lovely Brittle Bones”

Went to comedy night in Morgan Hill last night and one of the comedians was talking about going to the movies. Mentioned how funny it is to watch people eat their popcorn.
How they take a big handful…put it over their face and hope some lands in the “hole”
Is that not true….I think half my popcorn ends up in my shirt. I find it when I get undressed. And he mentioned you should always buy candy that doesn’t come in colors because when you do you spend the entire time picking out the ones you don’t like or trying to guess which color is it… And yes..don’t you do that whenever you buy a box of Drops?

Anyway…I think we all need a breather this weekend.. Hope you get one. We’ve got some great weekend ideas on KBAY.Com
Just make sure you buckle up when driving…for obvious reasons but also because they’ve got the big crackdown going….a ticket is $145…$445 for passengers 16 and under.

I’m guessing we’re all talked out on Idol. I have one final new show still to watch on my DVR…..The Good Wife. I watched what I think was the finale of Parenthood last night and as always it ended on such a high note. Love that show. So glad it was renewed.

Looks like we are finally going to turn the corner on this rainy weather because starting tomorrow and just in time for weekend graduation parties it will be sunny. We’ll have
mid 70s even upper 70s over the weekend and it should be warm through next Friday. Already thinking in my head, what summer tops I can finally pull out of the drawer.

Love the idea of this new website….GoTryItOn.Com
Mainly for women, but they say about 20 percent of the users are men. You upload photos of yourself in different outfits, along with a little blurb on what type of event you’re going to….and people will respond if it’s good or bad. Visitors to the website can vote on whether your should wear it or change it or they can leave a written review explaining what they think about your overall look. I’m thinking you need to do this way ahead of time.  But seriously, couldn’t we all use help on our wardrobe and from complete strangers who would be truthful!!!!.

Best city in the world?….according to thinks like low crime, economy, personal freedom, climate, housing, schools, air quality.
Vienna, Austria, followed by Zurich and Geneva, Switzerland and then Vancouver, Canada. The highest ranking American city is Honolulu at 31 and San Francisco at 33.

I guess we’ll finally start going out for ice cream again this weekend. I bet places like BR and Ben and Jerry’s have had terrible business the last few weeks. I rarely go to Cold Stone Creamery although I see from my daughter’s debit card that she goes very often down in San Luis Obispo. Men’s Health Magazine says their 16 ounce peanut butter and chocolate milkshake is the worst beverage in America…a heart attack in a glass. It has 2010 calories, as much as 68 strips of bacon, and as much sugar as 30 chocolate chip cookies. I prefer the healthier alternative.. 67 strips of bacon and 29 chocolate chip cookies… LOL!!!!!

Join Sam and me tomorrow morning. We’re going to get this holiday weekend all figured out…with places to go and people to see.

Know it’s a stupid question but why are  yummy things so fattening?
Stupid question, stupid answer….”because that’s whythey are yummy”. Spent some time this morning talking about this latest list from the food police….the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

You’ve got the CPK Tostada Pizza with Grilled Steak…1700 calories ..32 g of saturated fat…3300 mg of sodium.
The PF Chang’s Double Pan-Fried Noodles Combo..1800 calories..7700 mg of sodium
The Cheesecake Factory Pasta Carbonara with Chicken…2500 calories..85 g of saturated fat (that’s why I always order the Cashew Chicken Salad from the special menu)
And Five Guys( The Presidents favorite) Bacon Cheeseburger … 920 calories, 30 grams of saturated fat. Add the fries—another 1500 calories. I won’t tell you they’re opening one at the Plant Shopping Center on Curtner in San Jose.

The perfect solution is what happened to me last nite at an Italian Restaurant. No matter how fattening, I wanted a Pepperoni Pizza so badly….but their pizza oven was broken.
So I ended up with a vegetable pasta dish in olive oil.

This is cute…a bucket list for dogs. The list of things you’d let your pet do if you knew he e was on his last leg. Holly called in and said she’d let her 3 pooches eat people food at the dinner table…Debbie said shed let her dogs lick her husband’s face while he slept.(apparently her husband is not a fan of her 2 dogs)
But this is what another pet owner came up with:

1.) Allowing them to bark at and taunt squirrels.
2.) Feeding them popcorn and popsicles.
3.) Occasionally setting up a tent in the backyard so they can "camp out."
4.) Taking them sledding in the winter.
5.) Filling up the kiddie pool in the summer.
6.) Looking the other way when they dig holes in the lawn.
7.) Letting them run through mud puddles and sprinklers whenever they want.

Got me thinking about my own bucket list…I’ve never walked the Golden Gate Bridge. My friend Janette is taking me to the Giants game Monday..and we’re going to do that first. Hope she doesn’t think my  “time” might be coming..LOL!!!

If you’re even a “little” American Idol fan, Sam and I can’t imagine you not watching tonite…not so much to see if Crystal or Lee wins…but to see how they’ll  say good by to Simon Cowell. Even Paula Abdul is supposed to show up. Call us with your review tomorrow morning 1 800 948-5229 (KBAY)

Sam and Lissa's Blog 5/25

So what is it you can’t live without? For me…a TV…a microwave…my pet cat Tobey-Tobes. Sam says high speed internet or coffee.  Was a list out this morning that includes..Laptops, high speed internet, TV, Smart phones, Education, Movies, Music downloads, Pets, Alcohol and Coffee…. And our listeners added a few more things..
Certain relatives (I thnk we all agree, we need certain people in our lives,) but Marie mentioned the car…Sierra said books and for her sister..Hot Cheetos!!!
Still makes me laugh…..

Very proud of Sam and me again today….We did not give away the finale to 24…
Just like we didn’t for Lost. In part, because neither one of us watched either show and didn’t really care, but we also knew a lot of people DVRd it…

A warning……we won’t do the same for Dancing or Idol….Since those are live and so well watched, they’re fair game…. Besides, the winners are always announced online as soon as it happens….plus the bottom line is we love both shows and have so much fun talking about them.
There is no way though I could watch Dancing with the Stars for 3 hours tonite..
And in part because one of those hours will involve Kate Gosselin and I saw in the
Tape they ran last night she was again complaining about how no one likes her….
They say she made half a million dollars during her 5 weeks on Dancing. And if that’s really true, the show must have given a bump to the celebrity salaries this year because TMZ reported last spring that winner Shawn Johnson earned the maximum salary $365K for winning the season…So either Dancing went up drastically in the pay department or gave Kate extra to get her on the show. Or…..maybe none of this is true LOL

And maybe you heard on the KBAY Daily Dish this morning at 8:05 that Joe Jonas has again broken up with a girlfriend via a quick phone call. He did it with Taylor Swift and he did it with actress/singer Demi Lovato who is on tour with him this summer…How is that going to work? You’d think his Mom and Dad would give him some lessons in showing some class!!! You can certainly tell I’m a Mom with daughters…..Breaking up with someone via text, e mail or phone is totally rude….Even if you cant stand the person anymore, at least have the courage to look her in the eye as you dump her….or him!!

Okay…Mom has spoken!!!!

Sam and Lissa's Blog 5/24

So will it be Dancing with the Stars and the Bachlorette or 24 tonite? I guess with the DVR you can watch them all… But boy…with all the finales my DVR is getting pretty full. It’s at 73 percent as of this morning.
Dancing tomorrow nite is actually 3 hours. Now that’s way too much. Won’t watch it anyway. I’ll just go online to read who won and watch American Idol !!!

But seriously…3 hours for a TV show….
And in the case of Lost last night, it was technically 5 and a half hours…starting at 7 with a 2 hour preview and then ending with Jimmy Kimmel. A lot of people will probably watch it tonite. Sam and I didn’t even ruin it for anyone this morning by mentioning how it ended…although we knew……

I’m still recovering from the two hour Greys Anatomy finale.!!!!!!

Good thing we had pretty decent weather over the weekend (Sat wasn’t as nice as it could have been) because this whole work week looks dreary.  So far, at least, this coming holiday weekend looks good…just not as warm as we’re used to on a Memorial Day weekend.
Just crazy!!!!!

Sam this last weekend was in Half Moon Bay for a wedding…
Even got to see a parade in town yesterday. I was going back and forth to
Morgan Hill and Gilroy….The Dazzle fashion show Friday for the Morgan Hill Rotary at Clos La Chance Winery. Thought it was cute, one of the prizes went to someone from the Guglielmo Winery….That is one thing about our wineries…They all support each other…It’s very friendly competition. They all know they have a wonderful product. And Saturday, I was at Eagle Ridge for the Hearts of Gilroy benefitting Community Solutions. And several of the people at Dazzle were there….which is another great sign of community….. And of course, there was the KBAY Shrek premiere on Friday night.
And what do I know…. I had no complaints about the movie….It had a happy ending and that’s all I care about and when it was over, everyone applauded!!!!You know what movie is this weekend? Sex and the City 2. I just hope Big (Chris Noth) gets more face time than he does on the Good Wife!!!!

Too much to do …not enough time. Isn’t that how it is in May….and the first part of June…SO much is coming to an end….School………TV shows…LOL. Haven’t had a chance to watch Grey’s Anatomy yet. I’m not sure I’m up to 2 hours of crying. But I did just buy a box of Kleenex last weekend for Brothers and Sisters and for some reason didn’t use it. That one just didn’t have me crying like it usually does..
Neither Sam nor I ever got into Lost which is finally going off Sunday night. But if you’re a fan, wed love to hear from you Monday to hear what you thought. You might want to go to the ABC website. I hear they’ve come out with a whole bunch of LOST souveniers including a bobblehead doll. I’ll probably see what’s going on with Celebrity Apprentice to see what they do about Bret Michaels.

I know Monday morning is going to come around way too quickly. Sam is going to a wedding in Half Moon Bay (yep wedding time) and on Sunday his granddaughter Valentina is having her 7th birthday party.

I’ll be at the KBAY SHREK premiere Friday night. I know I saw the first one, can’t remember if I saw the second one..and totally missed the third one. And now the critics say the 4th one..and final one is not good but hey how can you go wrong for an hour and a half with a bucket of popcorn in your lap?

Today, I get to have lunch at the Clos La Chance Winery in San Martin.
overlooking CordeValle. Sounds like I’m writing a brochure!!!!
It will be fun though. I’m emceeing the fashion show and all the money raised goes to
The Rotary Club of Morgan Hill which puts it back into the community with some great projects. And tomorrow is one of my favorite events..Hearts of Gilroy at Eagle Ridge. I’ve been emceeing this event for years now. The money we raise goes to Community Solutions. Besides the lunch and live auction, they have a white elephant silent auction….and let me tell you some of the stuff is truly “white elephant but most of the items are great… If you are trying to raise money for your organization, this is a great idea because you don’t have to buy anything for the auction or keep hitting up the same people to donate. You just bring new items you’ve never used, gotten as gifts or maybe even bought at a previous auction.

Are you into jigsaw puzzles? I used to buy them when the girls were little but I don’t think we ever finished one. We’d work on it for a day or two and then get bored and I’d throw all the pieces back in the box and yes…a few days later I’d find some leftover pieces here and there. I don’t think I ever bought a puzzle with more than 500 pieces in it. So I can’t even imagine this 86 year old man in the U-K who finally f finished a 5000 piece puzzle after 7 years. ..only to find out there was one piece missing.
OMG!!!!! And it took him so long (7years) that by the time he was finished the puzzle company no longer made that particular one so they couldn’t even send him the missing piece.

Just goes to show he should have counted the pieces before he started, but that would have added another year or two.

And another story that had me chuckling this morning…I was looking at the almanac. In 1310, for the first time ever, different shoes for the left and right feet were made. Until then, all shoes were cut exactly the same…If I only raised Victoria and Christina way back then. I can’t tell you how many photos I have of them with their shoes on the wrong feet. And I never understood why the professional photographer in the mall never told me. You’d look at the pictures and it was so obvious. I blame the fact that I am left-handed!!!!!

Sam and I were talking about lies this morning…There’s a study out that the typical male tells 1.092 lies every year—3 a day- with women lying twice a day or 728 times a year. Men admitted their lies were most likely related to bragging about their drinking habits, while we women try to hide our true feelings by saying "Nothing's wrong, I'm fine."
Men are also less likely to feel guilty about lying.
And overall, 75 percent agreed it was 'OK' to lie to avoid hurting anyone's feelings. i.e.… No, those pants don't make you look fat. Neither does the swimsuit. ("You look just fine.")

See if these are true at your house…
--Men lie about how tall they are. They always seem to add an inch…. (now..stop laughing)
--Men lie about being lost. If a woman's with him, he'll never ask for directions.
--Men lie about not minding that a woman's had "a past." It really does bug a guy. Not because he's worried about her past, but because he's afraid he won't compare to past boyfriends.
--Men lie about knowing why the car won't start. Ladies, there's really no such thing as a "knuckle valve."
--Men lie about being afraid. If a woman likes to swim with the sharks, a guy will try it but he'll be terrified the whole time and not let on.
--Men lie about their sports ability. Just ask guy if he played sports in school. Then ask him again a week later. Same exact war stories, but it'll be a different sport.
--Men lie rather then tell a woman they don't like what she's wearing. This is called "survival."
--Men don't admit to being afraid to call a woman for a date.
What did I miss?

Oh…and aren’t these true…

When he says:
I need my space
He means: It's over

When he says: I broke up with her
He means: She dumped me

When he says: I'll be there in a few minutes
He means: It'll be at least an hour

When he says: Let's spend a quite day at home
He means: The big game is on

No lie from us..Sam and I tomorrow have more tickets to give away to the Idols
Live Tour at the Shoreline this summer….. to Boz Scaggs next month at Montalvo and The Jonas Brothers (ahhhhh!!!!) and  Demi Lovato in September.

Yeah…one more week to go for Idol and Dancing..
SO ready for these shows to end…And if they go the way I think they should…the winners will be Nicole on Dancing and Lee on Idol.. But who knows….
Again..it’s time to move on to Big Brother –LOL!!!

The networks have  been announcing their new shows for the fall..and their cancellations… ABC has cancelled a bunch of shows…Ugly Betty. Vanessa Williams is moving over to Desperate Housewives…yeah..she’ll be a wicked new housewife on Wisteria Lane. Lost of course is ending but also cancelled…Romantically Challenged, Scrubs, Better off Ted, the Deep End, The Forgotten, Flash Forward and Hank..Over at CBS….7 shows have been cancelled…Miami Medical , Accidentally on Purpose, The Ghost Whisperer, Gary Unmarried, Cold Case, Numb3rs, and the New Adventures of Old Christine. The big cancellation for NBC is Law and Order, but they say TNT may pick it up. That’s the network that also has Southland.

Here’s the cancellation I figured was coming…and it did. CW’s Melrose Place. I really liked that one..but I guess I was the only one watching. I’m pretty sure they’re re-upping One Tree Hill and also the new show that was so great this season. …Life Unexpected. You know how I love Presentation High School….Alum Mary Beth Basile is one of the producers.

These  shows are kind of fun to watch?….”I Get That A Lot” on CBS tonite at 8. Celebrities pretending to be ordinary people…….Nick Jonas pretends to be working in a clothing store, Martha Stewart is working at a craft store and Project Runway’s Tim Gunn is at the fast food counter. And ABC tonite has “Primetime: What Would You Do?” Pilots are shown drinking in an airport bar, brides to be are bullying their bridesmaids and lesbian parents are insulted by a restaurant server. Sometimes the reactions of people are just great.

Feeling lucky? Powerball lottery tonite is 145 million..$72 mil if you cash in for a one time check?

And if you are feeling lucky, get ready to call in tomorrow for some great shows….The Idol Tour….Boz Scaggs and the Jonas Brothers with Demi Lovato…Memorize our studio number. 1 800 948-5229!!!!

Did we get this right or what?…..the list of men’s habits women hate.
Farting, nose picking, body odor and wearing old holey underwear. Shannon called in to add playing video games and we also got a call about leaving clothes all over the place.

Was trying to think of bad habits women have….I couldn’t think of any. Can You?
Sam said leaving the toilet seat down…LOL!!!

Anyone have a home to rent in San Luis Obispo? My daughter and her 2 roommates are having a heck of a time finding a place for the new school year. Oh..and did I mention Christina has a pitbull/whippet named Diesel and her roommate has a Yorky. Yeah..I guess that’s why they can’t find a place. (ha ha) Both dogs are really well behaved!!!!

A footnote or a “goalnote” to San Jose’s bet with Chicago over the Sharks-Blackhawks series.. A guy called this morning said our box of goodies should include some garlic fries…and Barbara suggested a DVD of Santana Row which she called our slice of heaven…although she added the only thing she can afford there is a cup of ice cream from Ben and Jerry’s…LOL. Actually there is one store I can afford…Ann Taylor Loft!!!!

Idol tonite….2 songs each for Casey, Lee and Crystal…one they choose and one the judges choose, I see that Fox has signed on Idol for another season, but execs say they first have to solve a big problem and it may be their biggest problem yet…who will replace Simon? I’m sure glad they have decided next time around to make the results show one half hour….Too bad they can’t do it in five minutes …After all, how long does it take to say which contestant is going home.

Make sure you join us tomorrow morning…It’s a triple play…We’ve got tickets for the Idol summer concert at the Shoreline in August, Boz Scaggs at Montalvo next month and the Jonas Brothers at either Shoreline or the Sleep Train Pavilion in September. Remember our phone number to call in 1 800 948-5229(KBAY)

The website PawNation.com does not have any house-renting tips (dang it) but does have
Tips on what not to name your dog… May come in handy….you may want to save these:

1.)    Don't recycle names: If you name your puppy Spot Two, people are constantly going to be wondering . . . and asking . . . what happened to Spot One.

2.)    Don't name your pet Lucky: Naming your pet 'Lucky' is like tempting fate: It practically guarantees the thing will get hit by a car or come down with some insanely rare disease.

3.)    Avoid pop culture references: It might be fun to name your pet after your favorite TV or movie character, or the actor who plays them. But in about ten or 12 years, you're going to feel like a moron for naming your dog Hannah Montana.

4.) Don't get political: You might think you're making a statement by calling your     dog Saddam or Stalin. But the majority of people aren't going to get the joke . . . they're just going to get offended.

Thought we’d get a lot of calls this morning on backyard games…
I only knew the two…croquet and horseshoes. Sam used to play…Steal the Bacon.
We used to play kick the can in the front yard (until the neighbors got mad because we never played it until it was nighttime). A listener called and said his family plays Bocce Ball in the backyard. Heck…lucky you to even have a backyard. My townhouse has a porch and that’s it (ha ha)

Did you see Mayor Chuck Reed made a bet with Chicago…..and lets hope the Sharks win 4 of the 7 so we can collect. We could even start with a win tomorrow night (ha ha) Should we lose the series and worse yet the chance to go after the Stanley Cup, we have to send Chicago Eggo waffles (Is Costco still the only one selling them here?)
Samples from La Victoria Taqueria and Chiaramonte’s Deli and Sausages, Schurra’s Candy, Greenlee’s Bakery and sweets from Shuei-Do Manju…For drink, they’ll get wine from Joseph George and Beer from Gordon Biersch. Geez..I hope we win…The city is 118 million dollars in the hole…shipping all that stuff will cost big bucks. LOL…

Now, if Chicago has to send us goodies…we will get Robinsons Ribs, Vienna Beef, tortillas and chips from Azteca Foods, Eli Cheesecake, Ferara Pan Candy (what’s that?) Golden Dragon Fortune Cookies and beer from the Half Acre Brewery.

Winner takes all…and let’s hope it’s us…..GO SHARKS….You can do it!!!!.

2 more weeks..and we have a holiday…..yes….We’re already rounding up a girls night for Sex and the City 2.  Did you see that they spent 10 million dollars on wardrobe…and that they got to keep everything…Wow… They obviously don’t need my 15%off coupon at Kohls this week…

At the Mt View Ala Carte and Art festival I spoke to a couple who had just seen a sneak peak of Shrek..Forever Again….they said it was great. KBAY is hosting a premiere Friday night Camera 7…and we’re working on the guest list….Why don’t you try to get on it. Go to KBAY.com and make the KBAY connection…Sam is going out of town for a wedding, but I’ll be there….We’ll share a bag of popcorn!!!

Here we go…another weekend. But now with Memorial Day getting close, we’re starting the festivals and all sorts of outdoor gatherings. And not even any rain to worry about until Monday. I know..crazy…almost the third week of May and we’re still talking about rain. But for this weekend, there’s the Castroville Artichoke Festival. (Don’t tell anyone, I’ve never ever eaten an artichoke) Sam and I are doing our show Saturday from 10-2 at the Mt.View Art and Wine Festival. The KBAY Booth will be set up on Castro Street between California and Dana Streets. I think Books Inc is the closest store to us.  Yep..it’s Festival time. We’ve all been cooped up for so long with the rain..It will be good to start going to these things. And Sam and I always love a good time. If you’re going, make sure you at least stop by. We’d love to meet you.

The San Jose ViaVelo is Saturday from 10-3 downtown on San Fernando Street. . You or the kids love to bike this is the event to go to….In fact, ride your bike down. or put it on your bike rack and drive it down. 7 blocks are closed off for biking, walking, skating, dancing or strolling…with lots of vendors and music..even some demonstrations.

Relay for Life is this weekend in both Willow Glen..at Willow Glen High and in Morgan Hill at Community Park. If you’ve never been to one of these, they are great…so inspirational. Local cancer survivors lead relay teams around a track and it goes all weekend long…24/7. People camp out and it’s just a wonderful event to highlight cancer survivors and remember those who had their lives cut short.

There’s also the National River Clean Up on Saturday. There were close to a thousand people volunteering last year in the Santa Clara Valley…from 9 to noon. Last year they cleaned out 28 thousand pounds of trash…Can You believe that?  There was even a microwave oven….a pink bike (with no tires) and a 50 inch plasma-screen TV. I’m guessing it didn’t work…LOL!!!! It’s crazy w here people dump their trash. You know
We have the big Guadalupe Dump out in the Almaden Valley. Just $35 for an entire haul.!!! The dump in San Martin is pretty good too!!!!

Oh..almost forgot to mention this….the San Jose Sharks downtown at HP Pavilion Sunday at noon. They sold out in 30 minutes the other day, but they’re free for the watching on NBC11. GO SHARKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Share and tell….A Facebook friend Debbie sent this to me….
I’ve already taken her up on it and I’m guessing you’ll be next..
Read on:

Ok ladies here's another Facebook game...like the bra color game which was a total success and we had men wondering for days what was with the colors and it made it to the north American news. Well this game has to do with your handbag, where you put your handbag the moment you get home... "I like it on the couch", "I like it on the kitchen counter", "I like it on the dresser" well you get the idea. Just put your answer as your Status with nothing more than that. Cut and paste this message and forward it to all your FB female friends. Use their inbox. The bra game made it to the news. Let's see how powerful we women really are!!! REMEMBER - DO NOT PUT YOUR ANSWER AS A REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE, SIMPLY PUT YOUR ANSWER AS YOUR STATUS, THEN FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO YOUR FRIENDS.

That’s the part I didn’t know how to do…. “forward the message to your friends”…
In Facebook Life …...I actually have too many over 300—LOL…In real life, I have just a handful….maybe two handfuls….so I could have easily e mailed them…ha ha.

Anyway…..post your answer on your status…I’m still cracking up over this. Thanks Debbie for including me!!!!

This one had me laughing too this morning… A purse snatcher in St. Paul, Minnesota, was arrested after he took an 85-year-old woman's purse, but was chased down and stopped by her 65-year-old daughter, who knocked his knife out of his hand with her cane.
"That's either one tough old lady or the world's most out-of-shape purse snatcher."

And this one had me smiling…as Sam said it’s one of those “Ahhh” stories…Kind of like
An Oprah “Ahhhh” moment.

TALKING TO YOUR KID ON THE PHONE IS JUST AS COMFORTING AS GIVING THEM A HUG:

If you feel like a bad parent because you don't spend enough time with your kids, or you've been forced to put them in day care, you can relax a little. Here's why . . .
--A new study from the University of Wisconsin has found that kids are almost as comforted by a mother's phone call as they are from a mother's hug.
The basic idea is that when a kid talks to their mom on the phone, it reduces a key stress hormone, and it also releases a chemical in their brains called oxytocin, which helps in forming bonds "It's clear from these results that a mother's voice can have the same effect as a hug, even if they're not standing there."
So perfect if you’re kids are out of town or away at college, the next time you're feeling bad about not being with them, just give them a call and it'll be nearly as comforting as if you were actually there with them. I’m calling my Christina right now …how about you?

Got any hidden talents? I’m not sure if I do..On second thought, I am pretty good with
school kids. I sure love the time I spend out at El Toro School in Morgan Hill with my friend Susan’s first grade class. So maybe I could be a teacher (for an hour a day). I might run out of patience after that. But Sam has definitely got a hidden talent…writing limericks
And today was his day…National Limerick Day. He’s got the one he writes for me every year:
Was a young lady Named Lissa
Who went to the mall for some pizza
She first made a stop at the Coach store to shop
And proceeded to max out her Visa

And in a matter of seconds he wrote this one on American Idol:

"Idol" is down to four names,
And up stepped a young man, Casey James
He sang the wrong song,
He won't be there long
And Kara things it's a darn shame

He even inspired our favorite Idol caller Irene to write one:

Casey's the one who will go
From the American Idol show
Though he's cute as can be
They really only need three
(Though those three are all better, you know.)

Irene came up with the first four lines. But Sam says a limerick has to have five lines with the last line rhyming with the first two… so he added the final part.

Yep…Sam has a hidden talent alright…..one of many I might add.

As for Idol…We’re down to the final two weeks…Thank God!!!
Are you feeling that way too?
The ratings have been the lowest ever…although even when they’re low, they still have anywhere from 17-19 million people. Only Dancing does better during the performance night. To compare…The Good Wife (one of my favorites) got 13 million viewers last week…Desperate Housewives  11.4 million viewers…Grey’s 11 million….and the Amazing Race 10.6 million.

Did you watch that show Happy Town? Didn’t think so. Only 4 million or so did. ABC has already taken it off and will put the last few shows on after all the season finales end in a couple of weeks.

Hope you got the KBAY Connection Newsletter. If you don’t, just go to KBAY.Com
And click on the KBAY Connection. You then won’t miss out on anymore.  We’re having a premiere for Shrek next Friday and have a lot of tickets to give away online. I’ll be joining the party. Princess Fiona was busy so I’m the alternate…..LOL!!!!

Here it is …a list of five gender stereotypes that science says are indeed TRUE based on chromosomes, parts of the brain, or even the pain receptors in your skin.

Women can't drive: Okay..maybe just me!!! In fact, my daughters say I’m getting worse by the week.

Men are slobs:       Say no more!!!!

Women are wimps: (Unless it involves childbirth-no man can handle that and they say that’s because of the chemicals we have in our body during pregnancy )

Women love to talk: Say no more!!!!

Women can't hold their liquor: It's not about weight proportions. It's because men and women have very different water to fat ratios to their bodies. Men's bodies are made up of about 61 percent water, whereas women average about 52 percent

Stereotypes they forgot—(and I’m not sure about the scientific proof) You can thank Sam for these.

Women: Loves a good sale
Men: Loves a good golf game

Women: Thinks she's too fat. Even when she's not.
Men: Thinks he looks okay in the nude. Sideways. With his stomach sucked in. In dim light.

Women: Her Holy Trinity: Shoes, shopping and the day spa
Men: His Holy Trinity: A beer, some Cheetos and a TV remote

Men: Doesn't care about clothes, yours or his
Women: Enough shoes to stock a battalion of Octopus

Women: Has at least once in her life tried to change a man
Men: Has at least once in his life tried to cut down a small backyard tree with a Weed Whacker

Women: Bathroom with vanity mirrors, walk-in closets and a spa tub
Men: Bathrooms with just enough light to read in and a towel from the Holiday Inn

Women: Will stop and ask for directions
Men: Will drive in circles for hours, say, "I know I'm in the general neighborhood," and when he finally gets where he's going, he'll say "I found a new way to get here."

Women: Know all about their children, know about their dentist appointments and soccer games, their romances and best friends, favorite foods, and secrets, fears, hopes and dreams.
Men: Vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.

Women: Do laundry every two days.
Men: Prefers white underwear he's already worn once to underwear he has to wash himself.

Women: You're the only one
Men: Forgets your name

Pretty funny but pretty accurate…wouldn’t you say?
Got any additions?

So it’s National Etiquette Week. Manners are such a generational thing.
We older people tend to have them or at least use them a lot more than teens or young people in their 20s. Think about how often you say please or thank you? And now think how often your kids say it…although there’s so much more to etiquette than just good manners. I Saw an article this morning about the most common etiquette mistakes…mainly among young people.
  1. Don’t RSVP to invites.
  2. Nickle and Dime over the dinner bill. When you’re older you just split the bill evenly….younger people seem to add up who had what…and who owes an extra dollar.
  3. Complain about line-up lines. Aren’t there lines everywhere now?
  4. Change diapers in front of anyone and everyone.
  5. Leave a mess in public bathrooms
  6. Steal parking spots

My biggest etiquette question always has to do with the banquet table of 8 or ten. Which bread and butter plate do I use? Which glass do I drink out of? I usually wait until everyone uses theirs, and then I see what’s left—LOL.
Sam says there’s a saying to remember….food left, drink right. Food has 4 letters…drink 5. My daughters do hand signals. …a “b” made out of your left thumb and finger (bread plate on your left) and a “d” made out of your right thumb and index finger (drink glass on your right). All I know is I still get confused when I see a table full of dishes and glassware.. and sometimes even if it’s just for a table of four…LOL!!!

Looking for an excuse not to go to the gym? 50 thousand gym goers a year end up in the ER after mishaps with treadmills, heavy weights, exercise balls and jump ropes.

Looking for a reason to go to the gym? People eat about 100 extra calories a day on weekends. That’s me…and that’s why I am going to the gym today. In fact, since it was Mothers Day weekend…I ate a lot more than just an extra 100 calories a day. I think I did that per meal. I need to go to the gym every day this week…ha ha

Hope you had as great a Mothers Day weekend as I did. Tori and I drove down to San Luis Obispo to be with Christina. The weather on Saturday was almost perfect(if you ignore the wind) which is hard to do. We shopped, but we also did a lot of relaxing. We went down to Pismo and sat on the beach and also went to the restaurant at the Cliffs that faces the ocean. And for dinner Saturday night we went to the Madonna Inn Gold Rush Steakhouse and had one of those big pink leather booths. Yeah....its where Jake on the Bachelor had the restaurant to himself with the last few girls.  It is the gaudiest place I’ve ever eaten in but so much fun for a night. They even have an orchestra with a big dance floor. And to top it off on Sunday, I got some great gifts but it’s the cards I will remember the most. I save them, do you? Plus Tori and Victoria, through one of those online photo services, made an 11 by 17 poster collage of our last few years with all those places we’ve gone and milestones we’ve had…..graduations, trips, and special occasions. Now, I’ve got to get it framed. Actually they made one for each of us, so I’m waiting for the big framing sale at Michaels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got this a few weeks ago from my friend Jan and Sam and I have been been saving it for Mothers Day weekend. Enjoy!!!!

Real Mothers don't eat quiche;
They don't have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils
Are probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors,
Filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried play dough
Doesn't come out of carpets.

Real Mothers don't want to know what
The vacuum just sucked up...

Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?'
And get their answer when a little
Voice says, 'Because I love you best.'

Real Mothers know that a child's growth
Is not measured by height or years or grade...
It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother.....

The Images of Mother
4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't know everything!
14 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother? She wouldn’t have a clue!
16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's so five minutes ago.
18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!
25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it.
35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she
shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

Happy Mothers Day!!!!!!!

Can’t believe Mothers Day is almost here…
If you have kids away at school, I hope they’re coming home. I can’t imagine not being with my daughters on Mothers Day. But since Christina is down in San Luis Obispo
I prefer to go down there…..SLO or San Jose..what would you pick? Yeah…just what I thought…You’d be going down to SLO too-LOL. It may be a lot easier for me than you though.. It’s just me, Tori and Christina so we can come and go pretty easily.

Saw in Redbook Magazine this new survey that finds there’s at least one thing that Moms who work, Moms who stay at home and Moms who work part time agree on: Being a Mom is the most important role in their lives. I’ve always said that. When I first got hired at KBAY 22 years ago, I remember saying to the owner back then that I’m a Mom first…that it was the most important thing in my life  and that when my day was done at the station, I didn’t want to get called back. The girls were little then…Christina wasn’t even born. I look back..and thing wow..did I really say that. I’m lucky I got hired.
I just had the perfect hours while they were growing up…I was gone while they were still sleeping…Mike was with them in the early morning and then I was home by the time they were done with school. The only thing I ever lost out on was morning field trips and yes I know how lucky I was to be able to do that.

How do you truly know when you’re a Mom? When you start talking like your Mom did. “Always change your underwear; you never know when you’ll have an accident.” “Don’t make that face or it’ll freeze in that position.” “Be careful or you’ll put your eye out.” (Sam’s favorite) “What if everyone jumped off a cliff? Would you do it too?”
And you know you’ve really arrived when you say “Don’t Put that in your mouth; yo7u don’t know where it’s been” I’ve added a couple my Mom never did say…”Behave when you’re out…you’re using our last name”…..or “Behave and be nice, you never know who you might run into…it’s a small world”  I guess this is a never ending list...
You have some to add? I’d love to read them. In fact, we’ll be mentioning some of these on the show tomorrow morning….we’ll include yours…or give us a call tomorrow morning 1 800 948-5229.

And what’s this about….that men will spend much more than women on Mothers Day..shelling out an average of $155, compared to women who will spend an average of $100. Oh..I know what it’s about….GUILT—LOL!!!! Actually, I think part of the problem is men are lazier when it comes to shopping so they will buy the first thing they see…no matter what the price.   Correct?

By the way, we’ve got a couple of cool things for Mom you can try and win at KBAY.Com. One of them….San Jose Giants tickets for Sunday’s game…Why don’t you go after them?

Friends…you’ve just got to have em…..
Finally got together with my Morgan Hill girlfriends
Last night. Couldn’t believe it…we hadn’t seen each other as a group since Christmas.
We’ve been friends since our kids were in elementary school, so I’m going back 20 years. We’ve all branched off…There’s 9 of us….some of us see each other all the time. Joan and Teresa work together….Nancy and Jan are or were school teachers in the same district. Susan, Sharon and Dawn walk together a lot. Janette and I are best friends and see each other at least once a week if not more, but as a group we try to see each other every couple of months. Didn’t happen this year though. In fact, I was the one who had to schedule a dinner just so we could celebrate the 5 birthdays we had missed. And this is where the story gets good. We do cards..funny cards…Shoebox cards..…so this time, we each had to buy 5 cards. Have you ever had to buy 5 funny cards at the same time?. Not Easy….especially since the cards don’t seem to change from year to year. And last night as Susan, Janette, Nancy, Jan and Sharon were opening their cards….4 of them opened the same card at the same time….same exact card…..how weird is that? Another sign I guess that we all go back a long way….we know each other well or a sign that Shoebox needs to come up with some new cards….LOL!!!!

Are you into candles? I don’t seem to burn them in the summer…but Fall and Winter,
I’ve got one going almost every night. Not up for this one though…..the White Castle Scented Candle. Maybe Sam would like it. It supposedly smells just like a White Castle burger….”that steam grilled-on-a-bed-of-onions scent”. The White Castle website is selling it for $10. Proceeds go to Autism Speaks…and  guess what? the candles are all sold out.

Hope you have a great Cinco De Mayo. Tori is actually making Tacos for dinner…..and I think I got Sam in the mood for that as well… Just don’t have too many margaritas….
An average margarita made with limeade, tequila, and triple sec comes to 408 calories. Who knew!!!!! Forgot the ice by the way…and that is calorie free!!!

You may have missed this one…this morning….
The 18 year old down in Whittier who was taking his drivers test. (the actual driving portion) He’s about to start…has the instructor sitting next to him and hits the accelerator instead of the break. He crashed right into the DMV building. The instructor wasn’t hurt badly…the airbags went off. The kid failed, but gets to retake the test in 3 weeks if he can find an instructor to give it to him.(ha ha)  I’m thinking he’d better drive to another DMV location. I remember when Tori was about to take her drivers test. I actually took her the week before to the DMV neighborhood and followed one of the kids taking the test so she could get a “lay of the land”… Yep….we got caught….I guess it wasn’t a good idea to be driving a Yellow Mustang. Anyway, the female instructor got out of her car…and threatened to take MY drivers license away. To this day, I don’t know if what we did was illegal, but I was so afraid they would recognize Tori’s yellow car, that I had her take the test in my big Tahoe which she wasn’t used to driving at all. Thankfully she passed!!!!
Ah..memories!!!!!!

If you watch Young and the Restless….this may be the best week ever. Looks like they’re ending 2 of the story lines…the one with Patty and also the one involving the 2 Laurens and Jana. I don’t want to give it away, but if you DVR it, you’ve got to set aside the time every night to watch it. It is so good!!!!! I loved yesterday’s episode. Didn’t want it to end.

And Real Housewives of New Jersey is off to a great start.  Like last season, I look at their homes and their furnishings and can’t figure out where all the money comes from. Caroline’s husband is the only one we see working. I think the other two are in construction… I guess times are a lot better in New Jersey because I don’t think anyone here in construction is living like that LOL!!!!!

My friend yesterday told me about a show called Sunset Daze. It’s on cable. It’s a reality show …not about people in their teens or 20s…..but people in a retirement community. She said it’s really good. She never missed it. I told Sam this morning he should watch!!!!

Certainly won’t miss Idol tonite. Can’t wait to see Harry Connick Junior and hear Sinatra songs… I’m thinking Casey James will have problems.

Hey…we did it. My daughter Tori and I went to the flea market and after our expenses; $20 to get in
We made $300. How about that?…and we didn’t really have a lot of good junk. Oh…Toris clothes and bras were top of the line… but we were selling things for just $1-3 dollars. We had a few things that made a few bucks…..a comforter set $20…a lamp $10
A karaoke machine (without the music) $20. SO obviously we had a lot of clothes to sell..bags and bags and good stuff. You know what didn’t sell? The 4 bins full of VHS tapes. And they were good tapes….Disney movies…..movies like Gone With the Wind and Sound of Music. I guess DVD machines are inexpensive enough that few watch the old VHS tapes. We couldn’t even get rid of them at a quarter a piece. Had to laugh. Some of them had never been opened. We dropped them all off at Goodwill. And good thing we checked through the bins because I had some old family movies from when the girls were really little. Remember, those big Video Cameras we used to carry around. That’s how old these tapes were. Anyway….we had fun. We got there at 6 and already there was a line of maybe 100 vehicles waiting to get in. And like the only other time we went to the flea market, as soon as you pull into a spot people come running over to grab your good stuff so they can sell it at their table. You’ve got to be tough and no one is tougher than Tori. In fact, she walked away to go to the restroom and came back to me practically giving things away and said “that’s it…..I’m not leaving you alone again”!!!!
We stayed till 12….packed up the car and took off. A lot of laughing in those 6 hours. We had a goooooood time. And we got paid for it. Actually, I gave most of the money to Tori. She was happy!!!!

Did you notice what was on TV tonite?…the Real Housewives of New Jersey. Now that’s my favorite Housewives series. That’s my guilty pleasure. New York used to be but just too much fighting this season between Jill and Bethany. Kind of ruined things. And I see Friday Night Lights is starting up again (this Friday) Yeah..I love that show although I missed the first season. I think we’re at Season 4.

Looks like it’s going to be a great week. Not as warm as it was yesterday or even today, but looks like the rain is finally done…. I’ve been waiting for the end of the rain. Time to call t he Window and the Carpet Cleaners.

It’s also time to start making weekend plans to go here and there…like Gilroy Gardens.
Sam and I have tickets to give away all this week.

Okay…so maybe the new IHOP Pancake Stacker is a little too much for you. After all, who can eat 2 buttermilk pancakes with a slice of cheesecake sandwiched in between…and then topped with fruit and whipped cream. Actually, little Genevieve called this morning and said she had it last night. I said for dessert? She said no for dinner!!!! Said it was yummy, but she could only eat half. The other half is in the refrig. I guess for dinner tonite—LOL

But what about something else for dinner…at your favorite fast food place (toy not included-ha ha) You might want to print and save this:

Looking for good deals..always..and I love the one at KBAY.Com this week.
It’s our weekly KBAY Half-Offers…. $100 gift card movie package from Camera Cinemas for just $50. That will get you a lot of movies and a lot of popcorn!!!

Caught this in the paper this morning…...that the Santa Clara County Registrar is looking for polling workers for June 8th. Just a one day thing….and it’s a long day. I think 10 hours or so, but hey money is money….the days pay is $95-$180. If you’re interested you can call 408 299-poll (7655) or go to their website www.sccvote.org.

Now this headline got me nervous…saw it on AOL this morning
“Disappointing News for Brothers and Sisters fans". I figured the show was being cancelled. But no….just that not only was Rob Lowe leaving, but Luke Grimes was being written out as well. He played half-brother Ryan and had hardly been on the show anyway this season. SO big deal!!!!!! But this one is…Gilles Marini (Dancing with Stars) has been signed on full time to play Luc. Certainly nothing disappointing about that!!!!!! I really love that show…..

I think we’re coming to the end of the line for Real Housewives of New York. And I’m glad. Just wasn’t good this year…just too much bickering between Brittney and Jill. In fact, I heard for the next season Brittney won’t even be in it. Good. But if New York is ending that means New Jersey is starting. And I see the Housewives are starting to show up on the TV talk shows…so I guess they’re getting us primed and ready to go—LOL.
And still to come..the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Kelsey Grammers wife is one of them. Too bad they didn’t sign up Larry King’s wife Shawn…but who knew!!!!!!

I see Sandra Bullock is Friday’s cover of People Magazine…a great shot of her holding her new baby boy she adopted from New Orleans. . Good for her. And I’m glad she’s ready to get out there again.  Another big issue of People is apparently coming out next Friday. Supposedly a major celebrity is coming out of the closet. No one has figured out who but they say the celebrity’s publicist is a guy named Howard Bragman . He has some pretty big name clients…Anderson Cooper, Ellen Page, Zachary Quinto, Kevin Spacey, N Sync superstar JC Chasez and Queen Latifa. He also represents Meredith Baxter who recently did “come out” and was also the P-R guy for Chastity Bono when she became Meredith Baxter.  Could be interesting….maybe not- L-O-L

Are the Jonas Brothers as big as they were a few months back? Seems all the talk now is about Justin Beiber. But if you’ve got daughters who are still into them , they’ll be on tour in San Jose at HP September 18th. The American Idols Live tour as usual is coming here, but not as early as in past years and also different venue….August 14th at the Shoreline in Mt View. Tickets go on sale May 15th…I’m sure we’ll have plenty to give away as well!!!!!!

Here we go again….how much should you tip? I tend to be overly generous with
Waiters and Waitresses. Usually my server is college age. I tend to go to restaurants like CPK and Cheesecake Factory and they’re typically young. In my mind, I automatically have them  struggling to make ends meet. I’m generous at the car wash too, thinking these guys and gals aren’t making much and they’re working really, really hard and often times in the blazing sun. Now Sam I thought was overly generous last nite in Carmel when he put $5 into the brandy snifter for a piano player. Maybe, it was a good t thing because he said no one was putting in even a dollar. Plus, he’s really good about leaving a tip ($5) for the maid at the hotel. I will admit unless I’m staying in a room for at least 3 days, I do not leave anything. Unless, they leave a card with their name on it!!!! I always fall for that.  I’m curious …how many do leave tips at the hotel? You?  Maybe I’d better start even if it’s just a night or two!!!!!

Idol could be kind of fun tonite….All six have to take a song from
The Shania Twain songbook…And I’m thinking how many songs can there be.
I’m guessing we’ll hear “Don’t Impress Me Much”, “Man I feel like a Woman (too bad Adam Lambert isn’t on this season) and “Who’s Beds Have your Boots Been Under”.
Certainly not mine. I have no room under my bed for boots --LOL

I ‘m more interested in the start of the final season of “The Hills”. Can’t believe this thing has been on 5 seasons already. Luckily, it’s on at 7 and it’s only one half hour. Believe me, that’s all you can take of Heidi, Spencer and the rest of the gang. Tori got me watching it. Tonight should be a good one…..Heidi gets reamed out by her Mom for her ten plastic surgeries….Should be funny.
If you know the show…you’ll like these….top things you won’t hear tonight:

--Heidi! You haven't changed a bit.

--Wait, are we best friends or bitter enemies? I lost my script.

--But hey, enough about me. Tell me about yourself . . .

--Spencer, you're a great guy.

--I'd be successful even if my parents DIDN'T have money.

--Well, you know, it's what's inside that counts.

--Be quiet. I really want to hear Heidi Montag's new single.

--I'm bored. Wanna stage a pointless feud?

--This is what I'm going to wear when we accept our Emmy.

May be too late to tell you this. I’m guessing you’re dressed for the day, but today is Boobquake, a worldwide event that encourages women to wear low cut tops and push up bras. Even for me…someone, who as you know, loves saying “boobies” this is pretty stupid. Here’s what started it. An Iranian cleric claimed last week that all of our natural disasters of late are due to promiscuous women flaunting their bodies. Told you it was stupid!!! So stupid that a Purdue co-ed has created  “Boobquake”. She put it on her facebook and supposedly has over 100 thousand women participating. She will then do research and determine whether all the extra cleavage creates extra earthquakes.  I guess this would be an event where you “BYOB’’(bring your own boobie) LOL!!!!…  Of course what happens when you do have a quake?….A lot of “jiggling”….sorry….

Never thought about this until this morning and I had this in the news…that those tester products at the cosmetics counter are contaminated with all sorts of bacteria.

According to a study in Philadelphia, EVERY SINGLE make-up tester product they examined contained E.coli. That's 100%, covered in E.coli. E.coli can cause anything from stomach problems to death.
A lot of the samples also contained other bacteria too, like the ones that cause staph infections and strep throat . . . and HERPES.
The researcher says the shared products get filled with E.coli mainly because women go to the bathroom . . . do their dirty business . . . don't properly wash their hands . . . then touch the stuff. As I said..I never really thought about this and now I know why…GROSS!!!!

Sam and I are definitely going to have to watch Glee tomorrow night…or at least DVR it. I can stay up till 10, but Sam has a bit of a problem. LOL!!!!
We’ve got to see what the big deal is. One listener this morning said anyone who went to high school or has a teenager can relate. So in my case, I’ve got both!!!! Another listener though says she wouldn’t let her kids watch. SO now I’ve really got to see what’s going on. Neil Patrick Harris has just signed on, and Jennifer Lopez is trying to get on, but she says the next 8 episodes are already planned. She wants to be the cafeteria lady or something like that.

Love the story about SpongeBob SquarePants.. My youngest Christina always thought Barney was the best (stop smirking) She was about 6 at the time…but SpongeBob is a real hero. In New York, a 12 year old girl was choking on a piece of gum, when her friend Miriam remembered a SpongeBob episode in which Squidward got a clarinet stuck in his throat…and SpongeBob did the Heimlich. Miriam remembered….tried it on Alyson and the gum came flying out. How bout that…Dr. SpongeBob!!!!

And Sam and I were chuckling this morning about the 29 year old tattooed father of 3 in Missouri. Down to his last $29 and he won the 258 million dollar PowerBall Lottery. He bought the ticket at the mini market where he worked. ….The first thing he will spend his winnings on….replacing his missing 2 front teeth…and then taking his kids to Disneyworld. There was a great picture of him online….with his toothless smile…made me smile too!!!!

Okay weekend..Yeah…Sam and his wife Carol will be in Carmel . They rent a house for a week every year at this time. (whatever!!!) and then he drives to and from work.
Tori and I are going to try and see the new J-Lo movie The Back Up Plan, but I’m sure we’ve already seen the best parts on the trailer and commercial. But heck….I’m really going to watch Alex O’Loughlin…He is one hunky guy.

Maybe I’ll get to see you too. Sunday, I will be at the 5K Mission City Run for Fun at Great America. You can get all the info at KBAY.Com. It’s for a great cause.
Money raised will benefit Education and Seniors in Santa Clara County. And Saturday, it is truly one of the most fun things I get to do…M-C the Spring Lamb BBQ at Campo di Bocce in Los Gatos. Been doing this for years. The money we raise, and it’s over half a million dollars in the last 7 years, goes to the Ronald McDonald house at Stanford. Can’t believe the Ronald McDonald house is 31 years old. Like you I’m sure, I never drive by without thinking of the kids inside who are fighting for their lives. It’s such a wonderful place for the families. They’re charged only 10 dollars a night and the comfort and support they get is so amazing. There’s enough room for almost 50 families.

But first things first….Sam and I will be on the air tomorrow from 10-3. And Make sure you’re listening Monday at 8:20 if you’re hoping to win the front row seats to the Eagles.

Earth Day, Take Your Kids to Work Day, Jelly Bean Day, Girl Scout Leader Appreciation Day and Facebook Day. Oh wait, that’s everyday. Read this morning in the Mercury that there are now over 400 million active Facebook users and 70 percent are not even in the U-S. The average “user’’ has 130 “friends’. Thanks to you, I’m finally above average in something although since they changed the whole look of Facebook I can no longer tell how many I do have. 100 million users access Facebook on their phones, like my daughters.  And Facebook is in 70 languages. Can you believe how big
Facebook is. ..and how it has become such a part of our daily lives? And that the CEO Mark Zuckerberg who co founded the company with 3 classmates while at Stanford is just 26. Forget saying “My son is a doctor”…his Mom gets to say my son started Facebook. Mark is worth 4 billion dollars. Oh..yes…that’s much better than a Dr. and he’s not even married!!!! I think a movies been made about him and his friends starting
Facebook called the Social Network. If I remember right Justin Timberlake is in it…and it’s due out next year. Anything with Timberlake in it will have me munching popcorn!!!

That California (federal stimulus) rebate for new energy efficient appliances (refrig, washers, room air conditioners) sounds great…Could use a new washer…but then you need a new dryer and I don’t think there’s a rebate for that. Plus I don’t need a new one today and they’re talking like these rebates $50-$200 will be gone in days…..Hard to believe 35 Million dollars will go that quickly. I read it’s enough money to cover 300 thousand appliances statewide.

So I may have to look for other ways to save the environment like:
Skipping a car trip each week
Buying less greeting cards. They say the average household buys 60 cards a year. Sometimes I think I do that in a month. But if 10 thousand households switched to e-cards, we could save 400 trees a year.
Lowering the heat on your thermostat by one degree saves 3% of your energy use..
Flushing your toilet one less time a day saves on water. (Tori already does this)

And then there are Sam’s earth day ideas:
Go to work without pants, blame it on global warming
Spell your name in aerosol cheese
Switch to wearing cloth diapers (Larry King only)

Idol went way too long last night. Wonder what they were saying over at Channel 2. The News anchors sitting at the table for how long—25 minutes—before getting in their first story. We had to wait far to long to say good-bye to Tim Urban. And did you notice when Wanda Sykes was talking about the bad practice of having the “loser” sing the song that
Made him “lose”..they showed him laughing!!!

Glad the only thing I need to watch tonite is Private Practice and I’ll DVR it knowing that it will end right on time!!!!

Need a laugh? There is a website called PleaseFireMe.com.
Yes, go look at it. It’s a place for workers to post their gripes anonymously…a place for workers to release their pent-up frustrations. Some of the recent submissions:
Please fire me. My boss asked me how to spell urinal.
Please fire me. Every week each cubicle is subdivided into 4 smaller cubicles.
Please fire me. Our annual company retreat is the local chevron for Cheetos and slurpees.
Please fire me. My boss took a 5 month “vacation” and came back wearing an ankle bracelet.
We even got a call from Trisha this morning. Please fire me. My boss filled the empty water cooler jug with water from a hose. True story!!!!
Signs you need to be fired….especially if your boss didn’t remember Administrative Professionals Day
Please fire me. The boss walks around wearing nothing but a Post-It note. On his head.
Please fire me. Bathroom breaks come out of our vacation time.
Please fire me. Last week a co-worker asked me. “What day is Black History Month?”

Have yet to hear from anyone who is not overjoyed
that Kate Gosslin is gone from Dancing with the Stars.
I think Tony Davolani should get a Best Acting trophy for acting sad
last night. He’s probably much more relieved than we even are.
Money’s money… but to put up with her isn’t worth any price.

So now we move on to Idol. See if Tim “Turban” Urban goes home tonite.
Not sure if you heard about Crystal. A friend of hers says she was very upset that Ryan Seacrest went public with the story she was about to quit the show but that he stopped her. Crystal says the incident wasn’t even close as to how he told it…that it was really no big deal…just some backstage chatter…and that she’s definitely in it to stay.

Excited that Parenthood has been signed on for a second –full season. Love that show. Love how every episode ends on a “high”…a feel good moment
Which you cant always say about Brothers and Sisters, although they hit a high note this last Sunday.
And I am so excited about this. Young and the Restless is bringing back Snapper for the month of June and the original Snapper…David Hasselhoff. Yes…I guess he’s in need of work now that his America’s Got Talent Judges gig is done. I so don’t think he left on his own.

Did you get your KBAY Connection Newsletter?. Pretty exciting stuff about the Mountain Winery Summer Concert Series. Tickets go on sale Monday at LiveNation.Com but with the KBAY password you can buy them early….like today!!!!

Remember when there was no “texting”…and you yelled at your kids for “talking” on the phone? Now you yell at them for “texting”… Watch a group of teens with their phones. They’re not talking; they’re texting…A new study says no one really wants to talk on the pone anymore. They text. And I’ve got to say I have a couple of guy friends and they never call me. It’s always a text. Not that I get those very often, but if they need to ask me or tell me something it’s always a text. I guess that way they don’t have to say much. Every once in a while my friend Janette and I will be texting and all of a sudden one of us will text “can I call you”. All of a sudden we will realize it’s pretty stupid to go to all the trouble of texting…...just pick up the darn phone.  I guess the thing with texting is it’s easier than coming up with a whole conversation, and often times all that is necessary is a 3 or 4 word sentence. Teen girls are the worst with texting…over 100 a day….compared to guys who typically text 30 or so times a day. 64 percent of parents admit they read their kids text messages…I only wish I could…LOL

SO I guess we are all in agreement. Kate has to go home tonite on Dancing.
Someone is voting for her though…..a lot of some ones because she always has the lowest judges’ score. I so believe the Star Magazine article that says her professional partner Tony Dovolani is so sick of being with her, they have to pay him a $100 more an hour to stay. Doesn’t he look embarrassed whenever their dance is over? And he seems so frustrated during their practice sessions. The season will definitely come down to Nicole and Evan. Maybe Max and Erin will be the third couple. I so love him. He’s been my favorite pro dancer since the first season.

Did you catch the interview with Sharon Osborne? Said she is having her breast implants removed and will give them to Ozzy as paperweights. Says they are better on Ozzy’s desk than on her chest…
(See what you think of when you’re going in for your mammogram)

We’ve got the KBAY Connection Newsletter coming out tomorrow morning…..via your e mail. You don’t want to miss out on this one…We will have the password to get in on the presale to the Mountain Winery summer concert series. Tickets go on sale Monday the 26th, but with the password you can buy them early (tomorrow)

If you haven’t seen the entire line up, we’ve got that posted also at KBAY.com

Mondays are good days for this type of stuff…..How to brighten someone’s day.
  1. Send a quick e postcard to troops deployed overseas. Go to LetsSayThanks.com.
  2. Pick up the tab of the car behind y you at a fast food drive through (especially if you recognize me behind the wheel (LOL)
  3. Tuck a dollar inside a library book for someone to discover later. Told Sam the story this morning that one year at the flea market I was selling Danielle Steele books and a woman returned the ones she had just bought, saying her husband told her she couldn’t read them. That was surprising in itself, but she also said to me I found a 20 in one of the books..and here it is.  Wish I could say t hat was intentional..must have left it there one year on vacation ..but she was the one who made my day.

The new season of Mad Men hasn’t even started and they’re already talking about when it will end. The producer said over the weekend..this will not be a Sopranos….that Men will probably not go beyond a sixth season….They’re shooting season 4 right now.

As for Dancing which thank god is down to 90 minutes tonite….this is week 5 and a poll out says 85 percent don’t understand how Kate Gosselin is still on. Sam and I are with that group. One morning last week, we asked for just one call from someone who either votes for Kate or think she still deserves to be on..and not a single call came in.
SO who’s voting for her…other than her 8 kids who are probably happy she’s not home every day. LOL!!!

Still can’t get over that how the Sharks lost their game to Colorado last night.
I know it happens…..that you accidentally score the goal for the other team. Heck I think both Tori and Christina did that when they were little and first playing soccer, but this is a playoff game!!!!! How do you let something like that happen? Sorry Dan Boyle…I am not picking on you..but …….

Had so much fun Saturday night at the Fur Ball to benefit the Humane Society of Silicon Valley.  They actually had more people than the year before, and how many non profits can say that in this economy. And then yesterday, Sam and I had fun at KBAY Day at the San Jose Giants. Tori took some pictures. I’ll try and get them posted tomorrow…
Sam actually threw a grounder on his first pitch..and my ball was  actually caught by the picture…OK…it’s true I was only 3 feet away from the guy, but I knew there was no way I could throw a ball from the mound. I was trying to go easy on the pitcher.

Muni Stadium is a fun place to see a game…You’re up close and there’s something silly between almost every inning. And I think you can get tickets for under $10. At least you can for kids.

Lets all scream it together…yeah a weekend!!!!And a warm weekend too. Won’t bother taking the cover off the Adirondack chair on my porch though because it looks like it will rain again starting Monday. I don’t know why I worry about this chair so much. I bought it at Pier One Imports…It wasn’t that expensive and I think it’s meant to be outside. Plus I never even sit on It., It just looks good!!!!  LOL

Got big plans this weekend. KBAY today is having a “Volunteer” afternoon. We’ve got a bunch of people going to the Lucy Evans Baylands Nature Interpretive Center in Palo Alto. We’re going to help clean up the area because they’ll soon have an environmental Scavenger Hunt. So we’re sort of sprucing the place up. All I know is Sam (he sets these up for us) told me to wear gardening clothes and bring a pair of gloves…..and not my black leather ones.  We try to do these station volunteer events a couple of times a year. We always have a great time, although I will admit it’s usually much harder work than I’m used to. I will say it again…all I have at home is a porch and with a fake plant.

SO that’s for today. Tomorrow, I will put on my “good clothes” and M-C the Humane Society Silicon Valley Fur Ball in the Centennial Parking lot at Great America. Actually I am co M-C. I get to do this event with NBC11’s Craig Herrera. It is not only for a great cause (Humane Society) but people bring their pets and their all gussied up… Top Hat and Tails it’s caused.

And Sunday Sam and I get to throw out the first pitch at the San Jose Giants game at 2. Gave away free tickets all week, but if you didn’t win come on out and join us. I think general admission tickets are $10…less for kids. Should be a lot of fun.

Couple of other fun things this weekend…Sunnyvale has it’s big citywide garage sale…
You can find thousands of treasures….starts at 9 goes to 4. Tomorrow only. You can get more info at GarageSale.inSunnyvale.com

And Morgan Hill has finally finished it’s 3rd Street Promenade…Isn’t that the same name of the big shopping-restaurant street in Santa Monica? But Saturday they’re having an all day celebration. 10am-10pm (yep that’s all day) Street vendors, a car show, kid zone, entertainment,food,wine..food  wine… food  wine…

So a busy weekend…..and you?
Oh..almost forgot..Sam and I back on the air tomorrow 10-3…for Blah, Blah, Blah Day.
How easy will that be?.

Why didn’t my two daughters think of this? An Iowa high school girl has made her own dress for the prom…and made it out of –are you ready—gum wrappers!!!!
Liz Rasmuson says she got the idea after hearing about someone making a dress out of
Duct tape. Yep someone does that almost every year…But gum wrappers? The wrappers are from Wrigley’s “5 Gun” in shades of blue and white, and then she coated the dress with a vinyl spray so the wrappers wouldn’t tear. She made a matching vest for her boyfriend. The two started collecting the gum wrappers last August. She quit
Counting after 200 (must be a small girl if that’s all she needed) The gum costs $1.50 a pack…so what does that add up to $60.00

You have daughters? When did their prom dress ever cost $60? Never…I think the “up-do” cost $60. The prom dress over $200 .

Speaking of prom dresses and maybe you’re shopping for one right now have you noticed how “skanky” they are now. I’m glad those days are over for me!!!!

Cheap shot last nite, don’t you think when Ryan Seacrest made a joke about Brian Dunkelman hosting part of next weeks Idol gives back.  I remember that first season.
They were both “jokes”. Seacrest is great at what he does, but truly on Idol at least has gotten too big for his britches. He needs to start showing some humility. Agree?

And look at this. Two weeks in a row now that Dancing with the Stars (performance show) has had a bigger audience than the performance show of Idol.
But Idol keeps almost its entire audience for the results show (20 million) while Dancing
loses almost half of its audience. A big part of that is the fact it’s on the same time as Idol on Tuesday nites. All I did last nite is turn to Dancing at 5 minutes to 9 to see who got voted off, and then went back to my Idol on DVR to play catch up.

Hope you got the KBAY Connection Newsletter in your e mail. It’s got the line up for the Mountain Winery Summer Concert Series. Tickets go on sale April 26th at LiveNation.Com, but we will be starting up Mountain Winery Monday so maybe you can get into your favorite show on us

Perks at Work…You still get them? Did you ever get them?
Sam and I were talking this morning..that it’s sure not like the old days…
He said at one S.F radio station he gained 15 pounds the first year just by eating all the free food offered. But now…lean times..quite literally.
Actually a new survey says work perks are still around…and the favorite is free soda or water, followed by casual dress once a week, free gourmet coffee or tea, free snacks and free donuts. A listener called this morning said she’s got a state job and her boss takes her out to lunch weekly or was it monthly? Another gal called. She gets almost all of her meals for free….lunch and dinner. Sam and I decided that means she’s at work way to long each day LOL!!!! But I got an e-mail from a worker at Adobe and this list looks good….
Starbucks brewed coffee
bottled water
sodas (wide variety)
milk (reg, low fat, choc milk, etc)
juices (orange, cranberry, apple)
candies (hershey's)
fruits (apples, oranges, pears, bananas)

I have a friend who just got a job at Williams and Sonoma…in the office
And she got the perk she wanted….a discount in the store.

And getting back to the perks here…at KBAY.
Probably not what you think. We don’t as a rule get free tickets unless it’s to something like a baseball game or maybe a movie premiere. Not to get gushy, but the real perk is
Having a fun job…on and off the air. Why do you think I laugh so much?
And I think we all agree a perk today is having a job you like. Amen to that!!!!

Was driving the other day….watching the woman behind me put on her mascara.
Yeah..while she was driving. I do make-up many times…but while stopped…either in the parking lot or maybe at a light (I know shame on me) but no…not while driving. And why would you….why wouldn’t you just do it once you’ve gotten where you’re going. How long does it take to put on mascara? Maybe this can be Oprah’s next rallying cry…
Once she’s done with her “I pledge not to text and drive”.

There was just a survey in the U-K ….of the ten most dangerous foods to eat at the wheel.
Potato chips, chocolate bars, bottled drinks, canned drinks (huh) coffee or tea, sandwiches and wraps, fruit, French fries, candy , and burgers. I guess they don’t eat tacos in the U-K.

Hope you got the second installment of your property taxes in the mail…They were due on Saturday the 10th so I guess that means they’re due today the 12th. Never fun to be late with that payment. The late fee is so high. But then again, it’s nice to own a property in this day and age, isn’t it? Money on the brain today. Parade Magazine was out yesterday with its annual “What People Earn” …There are us regular “Joe’s and Joanne’s” and then there’s:
--Tiger Woods, $110 million
--Jay Leno, $32 million
--Taylor Swift, $17.2 million
--Kanye West, $25 million
--Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor, $208,100
--Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, $3 BILLION
--Ellen DeGeneres, $35 million
--James Cameron, $50 million
--Kristen Stewart, $16 million
--"Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer, $50 million
--Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn, $3 million
--Johnny Depp, $25 million
--Glenn Beck, $23 million
--Michael Vick, $1.6 million
--Adulterous South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, $106,000

I’ve got to say Taylor Swift is worth every penny she makes and is about to make a lot more. What a great concert last nite. A full 2 hours just from her. A new country band and Kellie Pickler were on first and second. And then came Taylor. Besides being adorable and as sweet as can be, she may be the most genuine artist I’ve seen.  She seemed truly moved by the adoration of the audience. At one point, she just stood there and seemed near tears at the 5 minutes of straight applause and screaming. Plus, she actually went out deep into the audience….the section where the sound system is run from and sang some songs and hugged dozens and dozens of fans. Unfortunately for me, she also magically appeared in my section (I was at the end of the row so not close,) but Tori and I literally got stampeded by teen girls running over from other areas to try and get close. Should have been some better security at that point. Tori almost got knocked over and I broke a nail—LOL. I couldn’t believe how many girls had crowded into our little space.

I’ve got to say I was really impressed. And you know who I met before the show?
Hero pilot Sully Sullenberger from Danville. He and his family were in line just like the rest of us. I wasn’t sure whether to go over or not..but heck..did it anyway and sheepishly asked if I could take a picture. His wife..who is just darling….said sure..go ahead . I’ll get it posted on facebook tomorrow morning. Tori still has it in her camera. And by the way, when he said good-by to me, he remembered my name. I was so impressed and heck the concert hadn’t even started yet…lol!!!!

Pretty big day…this rainy Monday….a taste of the great summer ahead. The line up for the Mountain Winery Concert Season….Rob Thomas, Sheryl Crowe, John Legend, Diana Ross, Cyndi Lauper..and on and on. Tickets go on sale Monday the 26th at 10am at LiveNation.com…and yes…we will be bringing back Mountain Winery Monday. It’s our favorite time of the year too!!!

They’re not as good as some of the parodies Sam and I have seen of the new Nike
Commercial with Tiger Woods (You Tube or Google Jimmy Kimmel’s..it may be the best) but we do have a few good one liners for Tiger’s thoughts at the Masters:

Why can’t Erin Andrews cover golf?
Lets check out the crowd…..had her ….had her…had her…
Oh, No…my fly’s open…Now the world will think less of me.
I can’t believe all these dummies bought my apology.
If I rush the back nine, I can still catch Joslyn James dance.
Yeah…they still love me….Take that, Elin!!!!

Where are the rim shots when you need them….LOL

Wonder if we’ll be talking about his big WIN on Monday….

This week went fast, didn’t it?….and unfortunately the weekend will go by even faster…
It always does… Tomorrow night I’ll be in Gilroy for an event benefitting the Learning and Loving Foundation that helps immigrant women and their children in the South County. Wine tasting…should be fun….and then Sunday night
Taylor Swift. I don’t normally like concerts, but Tori wanted to go so badly and I was lucky enough to buy tickets. Still can’t get over the price   $69…and for good seats. Yep, that was the most expensive price. Unbelievable!!!

Sam’s eating all weekend. Not sure how he will stick to his diet of one week LOL..
He’s M-C for the National Kidney Foundation Dinner tonite on the Peninsula. So I’m guessing steak. And then he’s got a dinner tomorrow nite with relatives and then another dinner out Sunday with friends… I’m telling you…he’ll be starting a new diet on Monday!!!!

And whatever you’re doing this weekend…..I hope it’s great… Ignore the rain on Sunday!!!! And if you go see Date Night with Tina Fey and Steve Carell, call us Monday morning and tell us if it was as funny as it looks in the trailer. Even the critics like this one unlike the awful movie I saw last weekend…..Bounty Hunter!!!

Sam and LIssa's Blog 4/08

You know the old saying “only your hairdresser knows for sure”…here’s another one..
“only your waiter or waitress knows for sure….Found this in Readers Digest…
“Things your Waiter doesn’t want you to know”.

1.) AFTER 8 P.M., IT'S ALL DECAF. Apparently, people who work nights at restaurants are really lazy. According to one waitress, most restaurants only brew decaf coffee after eight o'clock because no one wants to clean two coffee pots.

--So, even if you order a regular coffee, you'll get decaf because they know you can't tell the difference.

2.) SOMETIMES THE "DAILY SPECIAL" IS JUST A BUNCH OF OLD FOOD. You've probably heard this before, but 'specials' are often just a way to get rid of food that's about to go bad. So avoid the soup of the day, especially if it has seafood in it.

3.) YOU SHOULD NEVER ORDER A LEMON IN YOUR DRINK. According to a waitress from Kansas City, nobody washes them, and everybody touches them. They just cut them up and throw them in your drink.

4.) THE EGGS AT A BREAKFAST BUFFET ARE ALMOST ALWAYS MADE FROM POWDER. They just mix it with water to make liquid eggs that they can scramble. Making real eggs is more expensive, and it takes A LOT longer.

5.) THEY PUT EXTRA SUGAR IN THE KIDS' FOOD. A waitress at a, quote, "well-known pizza chain" says they put more sugar in the dough for kids' pizzas because they know kids will eat more if they do.

6.) WEALTHY PEOPLE DON'T TIP THAT WELL. Middle-class people leave the best tips. And guys tend to throw down between 20 and 25 percent if they're out on a date.

And then Sam and I got the phone calls. One former waitress claimed restaurants don’t always wash the lettuce. Now..neither do I when I buy the lettuce in the bag and isn’t that how everyone buys their lettuce.

One waitress complained that police officers are bad tippers…that most local restaurants gives them discounted prices, and they still tip poorly .But I will have you know she said this with great respect for our officers-LOL. She added firefighters are good tippers.
We then determined through Sam’s help that radio personalities are not. And heard from Gerald who is a big diner out. He says sometimes servers get a “spiff” for selling certain menu items, so the server could be really pushing a particular dish not because it’s so tasty but because he’s got a gift card at stake …LOL. Also says today’s soup of the day may be made of vegetables from the other day…that needed to be used instead of tossed in the trash.

SO what’s for dinner tonite and where? Ha ha

Morning gossip…Can’t believe the Tiki Barber story that he left his wife of 11 years, who is one month away from having their latest kids-twins…for an intern he
supposedly met at the Today show. Then there’s the National Enquirer Story that Tiger wasn’t just into porn stars and party girls. He allegedly had a one night stand with his 22 year old neighbor on a couch in his home office. Another way to put this he allegedly had a one nighter with the daughter of his neighbor. You know, I do think his apologies of late have been sincere and he’s trying to change his ways, but if I were his wife Elin I’d so be gone… How many more revelations can she handle?… You can put some things behind you…..but all of this…I don’t think so…

Certainly don’t want you to miss out on this….”Write Your Own Epitaph”…
Yes…only Sam and I can turn something somber into something silly and we did this morning….
Try these out ……I was somebody. Who is no business of yours.
“I told you I was sick”
“I see dumb people”
“Here lies the body of ……. , who was neither ingenious, sober or kind.”
“To follow you I’m not content. How do I know which way you went?”
“Here lies an honest lawyer, and that is Strange. Now I’ve got to tell you who used this one…Lawyer Sir John Strange. Perfect!!!

Idol Irene called this morning and after picking Andrew Garcia to go tonite said her epitaph would be “ She made us laugh”.
Sadly I did have to do all this three years ago when Mike did. And we did pretty traditional stuff…loving husband….father..son…. we will remember you forever..
And I must admit, I’m still living in my past. 3 years later I’m still wearing my wedding ring. But I’m trying to get the courage to take it off. Having never dated anyone but Mike  and being married for over 25 years, I think I also use the ring as a security blanket. But I’m trying. My friend told me to set a deadline for when I will take the ring off. And
Sam..always the dear, and always trying to make me feel better (he is my protector) said this morning, I could use as my epitaph…”Single and Trying to Mingle”. Now that is cute…although I don’t think there is much mingling going on at the cemetery…but who really knows, right?

Still can’t believe Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy broke up. And their break up announcement was so 2010. He tweets and then she tweets.. Jenny’s Tweet blamed the break up on Jim’s having been vaccinated. It’s a Joke……a reference to her anti child vaccination campaign which I never got on board with.

And what about that Tweet Sunday from Deepak Chopra. …saying he caused the 7.2 quake. He tweeted that he was having a “powerful meditation” and the Earth began to shake, causing the quake. Later tweeted again, saying “Sorry about that…and “won’t do it again. Talk about arrogance…I guess we should thank him for every day that California doesn’t have an earthquake.

Can you believe tomorrow is Thursday. Now this week has been flying. You can try your luck again at 7:40 for Backstreet Boys tickets. They’ll be at the Warfield the end of June.

Sam and Lissa's Blog 4/6

So busy talking about Teflon day…Post-It Note Day, TV dinner (Swanson) Day, Jump Over things Day (no kidding) we forgot to mention this morning it’s Tartan Day.
And how’s this for a Scottish name?…Millie Mc Master. She calls me every year
to wish me a happy Tartan Day. Said she and her hubby are going out for Sausage Rolls and Mince Pie….and to have a few drinks. Of Course!!!!!! Cheerio!!!!

Saw this headline this morning…The Bank of Mom and Dad is broke….
Tell your kids that. The sad thing is the other banks are broke too…and don’t want to loan to our kids.

If you watch Marriage Ref on Thursday nights, it’s been renewed for a second season. Sam loves it. I for some reason haven’t gotten into it and maybe because my Thursday nights are occupied with Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. But I did watch the Marriage Ref the first night when it was just half an hour but when it went to an hour, I got bored. You know what show I have gotten hooked on….Parenthood. I love the ending. No matter what drama there is during the show, the entire family gets together at the end for something-well “family”
And they always seem to have a good time.

You know what starts this Sunday? Army Wives on Lifetime. If I remember right last season ended with the Army son shooting himself and the Army Dad running into the house knowing what had happened. Just writing this made me remember that last horrible scene.

Time for other shows to end…like South Land has one more show…Undercover Boss has just one more Sunday.  The one last Sunday with the guy from Roto Rooter was great. I was even crying (not hard to do) That is such a great feel good series. And I love learning about all the different businesses. We’ve got flowers this Sunday.

We’ve got our winner for the girls get away to Napa….Will they have fun this weekend. But we have a whole batch of Backstreet Boys tickets to give away this week. Yep, they’re making the rounds. Napa Saturday and the Warfield at the end of June. So listen tomorrow morning about 7:40. Maybe you’ll be our next winner.

Haven’t complained like this in a long time. Tori and I saw Last Song
Saturday night at the Oakridge theaters. Great movie…We really enjoyed it
Despite what was going on all around us. Sounds like I have my Cranky pants on..and I think I do. I borrowed them from Sam. We didn’t want to climb over people to try and find two seats in the middle of the theater, so we went to the back….Never, Never Again. We ended up in the last row….and we were the only ones over age 21. (In my case much older than 21)So to the left of me, five girls’ texting the whole movie. The girl next to me even called her Mom once and yelled at her brother for not finding her. And then to the right of Tori 5 older teens…2 boys 3 girls and all they did was talk…4 times I said..”come on guys…can you be quiet”. That’s pretty nice, if you ask me. Finally, Tori went to get security. So a guy watches from the bottom of the stairs. The teens are quiet. And then he decides to come up and yell at them during a “critical time” in the movie”
SO I missed that dialogue and in the meantime once he left they chatted away again.
We made it through and I did go to complain afterwards…..but you know that went in one ear and out the other. Guess we’d better get to the movies earlier next time so we don’t have to sit in the back row !!!!!

Speaking of manners..it’s official, our dog Daisy doesn’t have them either.
Tori and I signed up for dog training class. I hate to tell you what she does…but I will. She pees on my couch when we’re not home. Don’t worry. I keep it covered with mattress protectors and wash them.   She doesn’t do it all t he time…sometimes in the middle of the night and almost always if we’re gone for a few hours in the evening.
Plus she must scrounge around the entire time we’re gone…going through purses …anything she can reach. SO the dog trainer says she doesn’t have good enough manners to be left free. We’ve got to crate her, which we did years ago and obviously she didn’t learn. My worry is she’ll bark when were gone and the neighbors will get mad, but the trainer says make her feel more secure. So we put her crate in the family room, will leaving the TV on and  we’ll put a dirty sock in it so she feels like we’re there…LOL..
Plus he said to make her a frozen treat and leave that for her every morning as well.
Hope it works….
Hey…maybe that’s the solution for these bratty kids in the movie theater too—LOL
Crate train them….JUST KIDDING!!!.

Ever do this…send a text message to the wrong person?….Can be very embarrassing. Twice now in the last week, I’ve sent a message to my best girlfriend to my boss Dana Jang . Janette..Jang…. I’d better change one of their names in my address book.

Your favorite invention? Microwave, TV, Post-It Notes, Teflon…. I Phone…I Pad…
Animal crate (joking)…
We’ve got some of the favorites for tomorrow morning. We’ll add yours.

Was talking about “Ah” moments yesterday…..those so-called Oprah moments that last a lifetime. ..Well, here’s another one from Sam. He’s picking up his grandkids this afternoon and taking them to the matinee to see “How to Train Your Dragon. I’m telling you that guy should be Grandpa of the Year. Isn’t that sweet?
Although I have to add something funny. He was online looking up the movie times this morning and saw the price $8-25 for a matinee. I think I heard a gulp!!!!!

Have to find out from him tomorrow morning how much the popcorn cost. An Israeli lawmaker has introduced the popcorn law…to limit how much movie houses can charge….He says people shouldn’t have to mortgage their homes to buy a Popcorn and Coke. Theater owners are appalled saying the movie studios take almost all the ticket money and the only way they make money is off the concession stand. Oh Well!!!!!
And I don’t know about you, but I’m always done with my popcorn before the movie even starts. Maybe I need to buy a bigger bag.!!!!

This one didn’t bother me like it did Sam. 2 restaurants in Phoenix have put rabbit on their Easter Brunch Menu. Animal owners are outraged. The chefs have been getting death threats believe it or not. It’s not like they’re just putting a stuffed rabbit on a platter. It will be part of the entirees..like in the ravioli and the soup. Easter..It brings out the love in our hearts, doesn’t it?
I’m thinking they could stuff marshmallow peeps in a rabbit and stuff that in a duck and then deep fry the whole thing. Just kidding!!!!!! It is April Fools Day after all!!!

Did you get your five gal friends together..and go after the girlfriends getaway we have online at KBAY.Com. It’s next Saturday the 10th…Go for it…..might as well be you in the limo to and from Napa…with the wine, food and the Backstreet Boys.

Oprah calls them "Ah" Moments..or is it "Ah-ha" moments? I think Lee on American Idol had one last night when Simon told him that when he watches himself back
He will realize this is the night that may have his changed his life forever.
I had one in Paris when Christina, Victoria and I were at the Eiffel Tower.
Happened to see that the Eiffel Tower opened on this day in 1889…so all the memories came back. The three of us had gone to Paris and London for Victoria’s college graduation . Mike had stayed home. It was a “TLC” trip…Tori, Lissa and Christina and we just had the best time…but it was definitely….under the Eiffel tower when I looked at the two of them and said can you believe we’re here…and then started sobbing… I will never forget that one “Ah” moment. It will stay with me forever.
You have one? I think sometimes you don’t even realize it’s an Ah moment until you look back. Oprah’s right…..they are so very special!!! I think I’m going to start to cry again.

Also got to thinking this morning about when my parents used to take us 4 kids to Tahoe and we used to always stop at the Cal Neva Lodge…at Crystal Bat at North Shore. My Mom always thought she had a better chance winning money there. She didn’t!!!
It was the place though where you went…Frank Sinatra at one time owned it and during its heyday…..his fellow Rat Packers would hang out there. Marilyn Monroe too. In fact, that’s where she was the weekend before she died. You can still tour the room.
Anyway…if you missed the news thus morning…the casino is closing today. The rest of the lodge is open…just no more gambling which is why my Mom always stopped there.

You heard that they’re almost ready to make the Hangover sequel? ...Hangover Part 2…
The only one still not signed is Justin Bartha…who actually missed most of the first movie. …LOL. Big money this time around. Still can’t believe that Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis got paid just $300 grand each….and the movie went on to be the biggest money making R comedy of all time. This time they’ll get a lot more..5 million each plus a percentage of the profits. The director made 50 million the first time around and will probably make at least that this time… Won’t be out though until the Summer of 2011.

A heads up for tomorrow….It’s April Fools Day… Let us know if you’ve got a good prank or one gets pulled on you first thing in the morning…. 1 800 948-5229.

Ever wonder what the week is like on American Idol?
Paige Miles who got voted off last week says you don’t get a single day off.
Not that she was complaining… I’m sure she’d like
to still be with the group. She says after Wednesday’s elimination show, you have to decide on your next son by the end of Thursday morning. On Friday, you record it for I Tunes.  Saturday you get your time with the mentor while they’re filming you. This last Saturday, it was Usher. You’ll see that tonite. Sunday, they film those music videos… i.e. the Ford commercial that we see during the Wednesday night show and then on Monday, it’s more rehearsals for performance night. Also Mondays are for outfit shopping and interviews with hometown media. Busy…..but sounds like great fun for these guys…..so of course who wants to leave. Paige didn’t make it, but the ten still on have the big
Summer tour as well. And that they get paid for…

Idol tonite goes head to head with Dancing. I’m sure Idol will have the bigger ratings because performance nights are always bigger than the elimination nights. Dialdol.Com claims that the only person safe on Dancing tonite is Chad Ochocinco. All the rest
It claims are too close to call, which doesn’t make any sense at all. Ochocinco was one of the worst last night and how big can his fan base be? I can’t even tell you which football team he plays for. I think its Cincinatti.
Plus Dialdol.Com says the bottom three in voting are Buzz Aldrin, Aiden Turner and Evan Lysacek. Buzz and Aiden make sense..but Even…no way!!!
Buzz or Kate should go, but I think Kate may be more popular than we think…that a lot of Moms from the Midwest are voting for her. You know who my favorites are? Niecy Nash. She cracks me up. And Pamela Anderson who just has the best outlook…And she was amazing as Marilyn Monroe last night. But don’t we all agree…..Nicole and Derek
Will be the winners!!!!

This may make you chuckle…how to get in good with the boss without brown-nosing.
Remember these 4 phrases:
Tell him or her “Good News
                           “No Problem”
“It’s already been taken care of”
“I found a way to do it cheaper”
It’s much easier to brown-nose, isn’t it?

And wouldn’t you know, it is my turn to plan a girlfriends night out when KBAY is having one of it’s best give-a ways ever. I’m planning a pizza dinner for the Morgan Hill gang, while at KBAY.Com we’re giving away a girlfriends get away for 6…to Napa. You travel in a Limo…you stop at a private winery… get wined and dined and then to Silverado for a concert featuring….scream…Backstreet Boys…scream!!!  If you win, just think of me and my girlfriends at a pizza parlor!!! LOL

Everyone had a movie story this morning…
Whether it involved the new higher price of a ticket…
Sue called. She paid $61 for 3 tickets to Dragon….along with one bucket of popcorn and one soda. That is one pricey night…...
Or that the movie didn’t really live up to expectations.
Looks like How to Train Your Dragon did…although the studio thought it would make more money than it did. Sam wasn’t ecstatic about the Hot Tub Movie and I
Hated the Bounty Hunter….It must be an older persons movie. My girlfriends 83 year old Mom loved it and I noticed when I picked up my Dad for dinner last night, there was a bus trip to see it today. I also saw Remember Me. Christina wanted too see that because of Robert Pattinson and I liked that one…..except the ending totally shocked me and wouldn’t leave me for the rest of the weekend. I don’t want to say more, because then it will give it away!!!

Pretty soon there won’t be anything original at the movies…Studios have gone back to the 80s…..and making a bunch of re-dos. Clash of Titans, Karate Kid, the A-Team, Wall Street (that one I want to see) …plus new versions of Ghostbusters. The Smurfs, Poltergeist and 21 Jump Street…

And leave it to Sam……to come up with the sequels that we hopefully won’t have to see

Midnight Run to the Bathroom
Pretty Old in Pink
Driving Miss Daisy to the Morgue
St. Elmo’s Ashes
32 Candles.
Ferris Bueller’s Day-Off Collecting Unemployment.

I’m so honored to work with him… LOL!!!!

Until I got into work this morning I had forgotten that Passover started tonight.
Looks like I’ll miss out on a Sedar this year. Such fond memories though….
My Mom made such a big deal out of Passover. Until I was 16, my Grandmother…an immigrant from Russia lived with us and since she was kosher, we went all out during Passover. My Mom switched out our dishes, we had huge family dinners. The food wasn’t good though…my Mom and Grandma were not the best cooks but we made up for it with laughter and good times. My Dad always hid the Matzoh under our bed pillows…so it took a total of 3 minutes to find them all. At least when Mike and I had kids he was a little more creative. He put the Matzoh in plants, in the bird cage, behind books… He had great hiding places for the girls. Dollar value went up a little too…Those were the days!!!!

Favorite part of our morning show today….other than “Go Gaels”…
The list of songs that best describe your colonoscopy. Oh, you haven’t had one yet?.
Sam has and I have. You’re next I’m afraid. Actually, it’s not that bad although
It is nice to “prepare”  by yourself. This was one time I thought to myself it’s nice to live alone…LOL…

Anyway…The Digestive Care of Florida (how perfect is that)
Had a contest for Best Colonoscopy Song to highlight Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

  1. The Long and Winding Road from the Beatles.
  2. Back Door Man by the Doors,
  3. Someone Saved My Life Tonight by Elton John
  4. Staying Alive by the Bee Gees
  5. All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
  6. It Don’t Come Easy by Ringo Starr
  7. Let Em In by Wings ….……and Sam’s favorite
  8. Pants on the Ground by General Larry Pratt.

You can stop laughing now. Aren’t those great?. If you go to the same Gastro Intestinal Doctor I do…Doctor Stein in Los Gatos…...pass these along. I’m happy to say I’ve haven’t had to see him in a while…and lucky him…he hasn’t had to “see” me in a while. LOL.

I got a call t he other day from a woman who wanted to find a free prom dress for her neice. I hope she was listening this morning. Tomorrow (Sat) starting at 8, San Jose Councilwoman Madison Nguyen is giving away hundreds of prom dresses that have been donated the last few weeks…First come first serve..so get their early if you’d like one…8am Mayfair Community Center 2039 Kammerer Avenue. Actually you want to send your daughters because they need to show their student body card. It’s open to Juniors and Seniors from any High School in San Jose…and I just think that is really cool. There’s even a place there to try on the dresses.
No one should have to say no to a prom invite because they can’t afford a dress. Heck....I never even got a prom invite… Oh Well…..that time has come and gone…LOL

Sam and I are so ready for a weekend. He’s nursing a cold….and this is my last day with Christina before she goes back to Cal Poly for the new quarter. We’ve got shopping dinner and a movie all planned…

As for you…girlfriend…get your 5 favorite girlfriends together for a great time in Napa on us….Go to KBAY.Com... Our girlfriend's get away sounds like a blast.

Can you believe it…we’re almost at the end of March?
A quarter of the year is almost over. And just so you know if you conceive today
On March 25th, you can have a Christmas baby!!! Never mind…
Famous birthdays…Elton John (63) Aretha Franklin (68)
Marcia Cross(48) Sarah Jessica Parker (45) Sam’s son Brandon (45)
And my Dad Marty (90)  And not only is my Dad 90, he’s still with it. He’s of sound mind and pretty sound body. And do I tell you this now…He STILL Drives.
He was all worried about having to take his test again, but he passed it with flying colors.
You know….they give a shorter test to older people…which is so weird. He said the DMV’s figures that older people have been driving for so long…..they know the rules. Yeah..right…. He got his new license in the mail…5 more years!!!!!

Yesterday Sam and I were talking about the most beloved Ad characters of all time…
Tony the Tiger… M and M’s….Pillsbury Doughboy.
We’ll here’s the list of most annoying ad characters…
And lookie here…The Pillsbury Doughboy is on this one too…plus
Dominos Noid, Aflac Duck, Nasonex Bee, E-Trades Talking Babies (love them)
Mr Mucus from Mucinex,Taco Bell Chihuahua, the old dancing guy from 6 Flags who was actually a young guy with one of those head coverings to make him look bald
And the Quizno’s sponge monkeys. How didn’t the Burger King King make this list. Not only is he annoying, he’s downright scary!!!

Boy..American Idol was bad last night.. Miley Cyrus , Joe Jonas , Demi Lovato
Would have all been sent home..in addition to Paige. I’m stuck on the show…but I do not like it this year. I’m already ready for the winner to be picked. You think Crystal will be the last one standing?
I’ll try and watch Fly Girls tonite. Didn’t get a chance to ask this morning if anyone saw it and if it was any good. It’s a half hour reality show on the CW network that follows 5 flight attendants around.

Love what you can win from KBAY right now…A girlfriend’s trip to Napa..You and five friends take a limo up, get wined and dined and wined and then get to enjoy a show with the Backstreet Boys….How fun…I’m envious. There’s nothing like a girlfriends day out….Go to KBAY.Com and make the KBAY Connection.

Sam and Lissa's Blog 3/24

While American Idol is on tonight, you’ve got to record
The Fly Girls.. I think it’s our type of trash…..A new reality show that follows five Virgin American flight attendants who room together in L.A. And from what I read, they’ll be searching for an IFB….in flight boyfriend who happens to be cute and helps the time fly. I also read..and I really don’t know if this is true or not, that a common flight attendants fantasy is to meet someone who will marry them and take them away from that career….Maybe that’s why a flight attendant always wants first class--LOL
It’s on the CW Network….so it’s got to be good…That’s the network that has Gossip Girls, Melrose Place (which I think is about to be cancelled, and my newest favorite show Life Unexpected.  I didn’t realize how much reality TV I really watch. I love the Kardashians, even the one in Miami with Khloe and Courtney, and the Real Housewives which is now in New York City. I can’t wait for the one to start in Beverly Hills. You heard that Kelsey Grammers wife is going to be on it.

But boy, Dancing with the Stars may really give Idol a run for their money this season. Their Monday night season opener had its biggest audience yet …24 million. Lately Idol is getting about 20-21 million . I don’t know how accurate this is, but supposedly Kate Gosselin and Buzz Aldrin were the top vote getters the other night. I know, how can that be? They dance again Monday night and then the vote off will be on Tuesday….which is when they will go head to head with Idol. Usually the performance nights get the best ratings so Idol may still end up tops with ratings.

Sam and I had fun this morning reminiscing about commercial ICONS we grew up with..ie product spokescreatures…like Tony the Tiger, Mand M’s  Mrs. Butterworth , Aunt Jemima and Geico Gecko…..Got some good calls…Remember the Kool-Aid Pitcher with the frosty smiley face? …and the Slowsky turtle family from Comcast.
We’ve got an even better list for tomorrow……the commercial ICONS you can’t stand. The AFLAC duck always bugged me…

And yes, we do have more Tim McGraw/Lady Antebellum tickets….and right after 9
The chance to go to Michael Buble’s concert and soundcheck party.

Sam and Lissa's Blog 3/23

Hey…it’s kind of nice to start your work week on Tuesday and end it as usual on a Friday or in our case, after the Saturday show. Sam and I were both off yesterday., which was appropriate as it was National Goof Off Day. I actually had some medical stuff to take care of but Sam was goofing off. He was skiing. Today too. But I’ve got to tell you about the weekend….because I pulled off a great surprise. My Dad is 90 this week, so I had a surprise birthday party for him Saturday which may not sound like a big deal however, it was the first time in 21 years that all 4 of the Kreisler siblings were together. Hard to believe. It’s not like we live that far from each other. Scott leaves in Canada on Salt Spring Island, Neal is a Navy chaplain in the Navy down in San Diego and Richard is in Los Angeles. But yes, it’s been since my Moms funeral 21years ago that we’ve all been together. So it was definitely a moment. I had told my Dad the girls and I were taking him out for an early birthday dinner and that we were going to a fancier restaurant than usual.  I probably didn’t need to say more, but since we were going past his dinner time (5pm) I made up a story about me doing a commercial for the restaurant and that they had planned something special… Anyway, in we walk to the banquet room and there are 20 or so people…. SURPRISE!!!!!! By the way, he asked me later that night, when the commercials were going to start…LOL….

Did you watch Dancing last night? Do you think they will reign in Pamela Anderson because I’m thinking she and her dance partner are going to end up rolling around on the floor. I don’t even think she brushed her hair last night…so maybe they were on the floor backstage. I figure this season belongs to Derek Hough and the Pussycat girl..Nicole Scherzinger. They are already pretty amazing….although he can make anyone look great. He’s got to be the most talented of all the dancers.  You think Buzz will be the first to go? Could be Niecy Nash. I love her spunk and the fact that she’s not trying to lose weight, but she’s probably known the least of anyone this season. She has a show on TLC where she cleans out cluttered homes. Shannen and Kate will be going soon as well though. Neither one seems to be having much fun.  I may like this season…..

Happy Hollow Park and Zoo was so much fun Saturday. You’ve got to plan on going at least once this summer. And there seems to be so much room to roam. They had 9 thousand people on grand reopening day, but it just didn’t seem overly crowded. The café is great too. Just ask Sam about the scones!!!!!!

Big week for us…Tim McGraw/Lady Antebellum tickets for the Shoreline in May.
You can’t even buy them until Saturday, but we’ve got a pair every morning…
And of course after 9, Sam has the tickets for the Michael Buble concert and sound check party. Michael Buble and Sam will tell you when to call every morning.

Love saying this…....it’s Friday, the last day of Winter…Seems like Winter ended a week or two ago, but formal good-bys today or is that Good-riddance. All the rain we got this winter was wonderful…but I think we were all ready for the sun …and warm temperatures. SO here it comes… Spring arrives tomorrow at 10:32 in the morning. It’s the Vernal Equinox. Day and night are equally long tomorrow. Okay…..there’s your science lesson. My daughter Christina could have used that a few weeks ago when she was taking one of her teacher credential tests…She said she drew a blank on the Equinoxes…

Oh, and here’s a spring poem for you:

The earth goes muddy, far and near.
The driveways treacherous, we fear.
Normally, the mud will clear.
Unless it’s an election year.

Yikes…it is an election year…

Hope you have a great weekend planned. For me, tonite is the Presentation High School Fashion Show at the Fairmont… It’s my favorite event…I know I’m prejudice, having two daughters who went there and I’m on the Board of Trustees, but it is just a great show. A fun time and all the money raised, and we’re talking over 100 thousand dollars goes to financial aid for the girls who need help. Good times and good causes as we like to say at KBAY.

And of course Saturday is the big event at Happy Hollow Park and Zoo…the grand re opening. Sam and I are out there for the ribbon cutting at the brand new entrance…and it’s quite an entrance. 1961 is when Happy Hollow first opened, and I hate to say this…I was there. OMG…I AM OLD!!!!
But thank goodness not as old  Sam. LOL…..We’ll be doing the show from there tomorrow morning. We gave away a lot of  tickets this week. But go to KBAY.Com…because we have more….and hey….this is just the beginning of new memories at Happy Hollow. Lots of time for you to make yours.!!!!!

Sam on Sunday is actually going skiing again….I think this will be it for him.  He’ll soon be putting his gear into his storage unit .  I’m hoping to pull off a surprise this weekend. I’ll let you know next week if it worked.

Hope YOUR  weekend is just terrific!!!!

I am a snack food junkie…I will be the first to admit it…
But I can’t be the only one thing who thinks the CEO of Sony Pictures is off his rocker for urging movie theaters to offer healthy alternatives at the snack bar. He’s not trying to get rid of the popcorn, candy and soda, but also wants things like fruit salads, granola bars, yogurt and vegetable crudités with dip. Thank goodness, he’s not asking for
Giant tubs of spinach or broccoli.  Just think about it, do you want to be sitting next to
A guy eating an apple or crunching on celery sticks? That’s certainly quiet food…
Sam says his wife—Carol-would buy this stuff…so maybe it’s not as silly as it sounds.
I might even try the fruit salad, if they pour enough melted butter over it…LOL.

Are you like me….were you totally blind-sided by that news today on Sandra Bullock.
She cancelled a London appearance for the movie premiere of Blind Side after In Touch magazine printed  an interview with tattoo model Michelle “Bombshell” McGee.. The ink covered Internet Porn model claims she wrote to James about a modeling job for his Chopper Show, and that they “got together” during the first interview. She says he led her to believe he and Bullock were separated when she was really in Atlanta shooting the Blind Side and that their affair lasted 11 months before she found out the truth.

He certainly didn’t seem like a lying, disgusting pig when his eyes teared up while watching Bullock accept the Oscar, but now that she has the Oscar, maybe she can get some tips from Elin on how to swing it. I hear it’s really heavy and maybe even better than a 7-Iron.

Maybe this is all gossip and not true, but People Magazine says she has moved out of their home, and I always believe that when it makes People Magazine…..it’s got to be true. I really, really like Bullock as an actress and a person. I feel sad for her. So much attention has been on the two of them as a couple, and it may have all been a sham…at least on his part. It reminds me of my Mom always saying….you never know what’s going on behind someone else’s closed door.. Yeah…Ouch!!!!

One thing about this nice sunny warm weather….the week has sure gone by quickly.
Tomorrow’s already Friday. Sam and I will be out at Happy Hollow Park and Zoo Saturday for the grand re-opening. Hope you can join us, just a heads-up, they’re expecting ten thousand people which means one crowded place. Get there as early as you can or park a few blocks away and take a nice stroll to the entrance.

Hopefully the luck of the Irish has been with you today…
Anyone find a four leaf clover?
Everyone knows that’s a sign of good luck….But what about Irish Bad Luck signs?
It’s thought the sound of dripping water in a house warns of imminent death. Oh great…I always have at least one faucet dripping. Disturbing a swallow’s nest is bad luck and so is knocking over your chair when you stand up. And while a broken mirror gets you the standard seven years bad luck, killing a cat gets you 17.

And what’s the deal with “Danny’s Boy” Its probably the most famous Irish song and it was written by an English guy who never set foot in Ireland. Even the song “When Irish Eyes are Smiling” was written by 2 Americans.

Who cares? Drink up everyone!!! And then please call us tomorrow at 1 800 948-5229 with a hangover cure. I’m guessing we’ll need one or two.

Was hard to stay up for all two hours of Idol  last night…and I really didn’t like that face off between Ryan and Simon at the beginning of the show when Big Mike was on stage.
But Ellen is now coming into her own…She had some really funny lines. She must be getting comfortable, or maybe they’re making her feel more like one of the group now. That was another thing…Watching her, I always felt like she was the outsider and Randy, Kara and Simon didn’t want to “play” with her. See if Tim Urban goes home tonite. Could also be Andrew Garcia or even Lacey Brown.
All I know for sure is I have to get a life. Last night, I watched Young and the Restless. Gossip Girl, Southland and then Idol.

Liked the tip John Tesh e- mailed me….part of the intelligence update he does during his shows on KBAY Saturday and Sunday mornings……that you need to eat breakfast within 20 minutes of waking up. That as soon as you wake up, your stomach gets hunger pains and if you don’t eat something healthy like whole grain cereal or oatmeal within 20 minutes, your body loses the ability to turn down what you really wanted to eat….a donut!!! Apparently isn’t the gospel for everyone. Sam told me he ate a bowl of cereal within 20 minutes this morning…..had 2 cups of coffee and then stopped at 7-11 on the way in for 2 donuts….and they were chocolate donuts.

Guess it’s time to take the cover off the Adirondack chair on the front porch…
Not that I ever sit on the darn thing, but it’s time to get in gear for spring.
Finally got the car washed and it was so great walking around Willow Glen last night.
I don’t think it got dark until 8 or even later. All of a sudden, everyone’s walking their dogs again. Parents are out pushing their kids in their strollers…Makes you feel good, doesn’t it?  Next on the list of things to do…get the windows cleaned, and the carpet cleaned from the long wet winter. Actually, I’m going to wait a few more weeks for that because we almost always get some rain in April, and the first part of May.

Time to get reacquainted with friends too. I don’t think I’ve seen my Morgan Hill girlfriends as a group since Christmas time. Wow..that’s way too long. We don’t all get together very often, but when we do, we pick up right where we left off. In fact, I was reading in Ladies Home Journal, that during female gabfests, most women agree there’s nothing they can’t talk about. Although there are 2 things that can be off- limits. 30 percent of women won’t say a thing about their sex lives and 21 percent are mum about money matters. Our rule whenever we get together....is say what you want....that it’s always safe. Nothing ever leaves the room. And maybe that’s how we’ve all stayed friends for so long. We know we can always count on each other.

We’re back to 2 hours on American Idol again tonite…Is it just me, or does this season seem like more of a chore to watch? Of the top 12, there are just 4 or 5 who seem to generate much interest….You can use this as your checklist:
    --Crystal Bowersox
   --Michael Lynche
   --Lee Dewyze,
   --Casey James
   --Siobhan Magnus,
   --Andrew Garcia,
   --Didi Benami
   --Katie Stevens
   --Aaron Kelly
   --Lacey Brown
   --Tim Urban
   --Paige Miles

That order could be the way it ends up….ranked from 1 to 12. But if Crystal wants to outlast Michael, I think she needs to start smiling more and get some energy.
We’ll see how they do with Rolling Stones songs tonite.

Don’t forget to wear your green tomorrow…It’s St Patty’s Day..
And I don’t know how to pronounce this, but I can type it Sláinte chuig na fir, agus go mairfidh na mná go deo!
Hey…. we all get to be Irish for the day…I’m just getting an early start. It’s a great saying….health to the men and may the women live forever.

Can you believe it…one month from today and your taxes are due?
Where is this year going? My tax guy has done mine and I should get them  to sign and mail- in today. He’s already warned me, this is the second and  final year of the “widow” deduction….which means Uncle Sam already has his hand out for more money from me for this year. I wish Uncle Sam would leave his hands in his pockets—LOL. I can’t get over though that my 2 daughters--who file electronically-- have already gotten their refunds. It was within 1-2 weeks. I think it goes faster if you make it automatic deposit. But of course you don’t do that unless you’re getting money back!!!

Anyway, Sam and I thought this might come in handy if you’ve yet to do your taxes…
The 4 things that get you audited by the IRS:

1.) YOUR INCOME. Obviously there's not much you can do about this one, but if you make over $100,000 a year, your odds of being audited go way up to 1 in 70. If you make less than that, your chances of being audited are about 1 in 150. See, making under 100,000 can be a good thing....LOL

2.) OVERESTIMATING YOUR DONATIONS. If you gave money to Haiti, you know exactly how much it was. But when you donate clothing to Goodwill, you're basically just guessing. And the best thing to do is make sure it's less than $500. The IRS they say lets that amount slide. But if it's MORE than that, make sure you don't value anything at more than 30% of what you paid for it when it was brand new.

3.) MATH ERRORS. Make sure all the columns add up. Really.  Double check. Use a calculator. Audits happen every year, just because people are sloppy with their addition. Heck, I can't even do my checkbook without a calculator.

4.)    FORGETTING TO SIGN YOUR RETURN. It's a no-brainer, but it happens more than you'd think. And it's like ASKING to be audited. They figure if you can't even sign your form, there must be other goofs as well.
As Sandra Bullock says to the coach in Blind Side…..you can thank me later!!!!

Can’t get enough of this sunshine? I couldn’t wait this weekend to put on the capris, and a t shirt and sandals I haven’t worn in months. Sam had a golf shirt on this morning…He’s got his clubs in his car for this afternoon.  I’m going to run out to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo….and my friend Donna and I are going to get back to walking Willow Glen. Yep…..love the sunshine. I predict better moods at work and everywhere. We’ve had a long rainy winter…..it’s time.

Funny memory this morning about Happy Hollow Park and Zoo….
Rhonda from Gilroy was reminiscing about her brother when he was 2. Didn’t want to leave the park and ran into the Maze, with their Mom running after him. She said other park goers had to catch him because he was way too quick for the Mom….
Yep…Rhonda got today’s family four pack of tickets. Call us with your memory tomorrow morning at 7:20. Hopefully you’ll get through and win the tickets.

We’re almost there. This weekend is supposed to be the start of something good.
I know…we could use even more rain, but aren’t you ready for the sunshine and not just one day of it? Should be so nice outside Sunday, you won’t even mind losing an hour sleep with the return of Daylight Saving Time, because you’ll get an extra hour of sun.
Just can’t wait.  Sam has got his weekend planned…….our show as always from 10-3...and then straight to the hammock.  I will be a little busier..but it’s all fun. I get to be a guest speller Saturday night at the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I’ve only got a cheering section of 4, so if you can come …great. Starts at 7 at the Montgomery Theater downtown. Tickets at www.cmtsj.org.

And then Sunday afternoon, I’ll be reading to kids at the Children’s Discovery Museum in San Jose…at 2. They’ve picked a fun book….Tops and Bottoms.

Seems to be a lot of disappointment over the final 12 of American Idol, at least if you read some of the blogs. Lilly Scott is the one getting all the attention but let’s face it, who does most of the voting …..teenagers…and she’s not someone a teenager would be interested in. I’m guessing that’s why17 year old Katie and 16 year old Aaron are still around. Katie though may be the first to go. Sure felt bad when Alex Lambert (mullet) got voted off. He didn’t take it well..and he too is good but I think he’s in the same category as Tim Urban and Tim is much cuter to a teen girl.  Don’t know how the next few weeks will play out, but I sure do like Big Mike. He’s got the charm and the sound!!!

Your kids ever do something..and you think to yourself WOW!!!
Christina  works at a retail store downtown San Luis Obispo….a few blocks from Cal Poly and she told me that for a couple of days she kept noticing a homeless man who was barefoot…So she asked him his shoe size, called the store manager and asked if she could give him a pair of shoes… Guess what he’s wearing today? I just thought that was so cool. Usually she gives someone homeless her umbrella.     We’ve got Good Samaritan Day coming up next week. She’s inspired me.

Sam and I are pretty excited about our morning s how give away this coming week…
Family four packs to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo which has its big grand re-opening next Saturday. He and I both spent many a day there growing up, as did just about everyone else in the Southbay…birthday parties, Scout gatherings, trips to the zoo. Call us with your memories next week (800 945-5229), and we’ll see you on the 20th for the big celebration.

Just as I’m getting ready to run out the door to do 30 minutes on the Treadmill, I get this e mail from Janice…and let me tell you it gave me second thoughts.

EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 50
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where
you have plenty of room at each side.
With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms
straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can.
Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.
Each day you'll find that you can hold this position
for just a bit longer.
After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato
bags.
Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get
to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms
straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level)
After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in
 each bag.

Okay….so instead of going to the gym…lets meet at Safeway in the produce section…and get the potato….LOL
Pretty funny….

I so wish I liked to exercise. I have a gym membership, and I do try to go 3-4 times a week but mainly it’s for the treadmill. I do 2 miles in 27 minutes…so I guess that’s pretty good. And I did hire a personal trainer…James…and I love him, but I somehow can’t seem to do what he works on with me when he’s not there. I guess I’m lazy, but the bottom line is I just don’t enjoy exercising….so as soon as I get done with the treadmill….I head for the door. As I keep telling myself it’s better than nothing!!!!!!
And it must be….because when I took a bone density test a few weeks ago, I was much improved from 2 years ago…..a noticeable difference….so I’m safe from those pills Sally Fields hawks.
Tomorrow should be fun….at 7:20 another chance to sing for Michael Buble tix, but we’re also going to discuss Sam’s problem and maybe yours as well; that if there’s something free, he can’t resist it. He’ll come in at 5 in the morning , see left over food from the day before in the coffee room, and as long as it’s still edible…he’ll take it. He had 3 cookies this morning . Then he grabbed one of the free t-shirts someone left on the table. Don’t know what it was promoting, but it had an IRS form on the front of it. LOL….
When my husband was alive, we used to joke that if we couldn’t pay for something, we didn’t want it. Every time we’d be in Union Square or a place like that, and someone on the street corner offered us a free coupon to go try something…we’d laugh and say nope…can’t take anything for free. And now look at me…..Queen of the coupons.

Are you a good speller? I think I am. At least I was in
school when we used to have weekly spelling contests.
But maybe that was because I always studied. Come watch me try to spell Saturday night.
I’m the special guest speller at the Montgomery Theater in downtown San Jose when the Children’s Musical Theater goes on stage with “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. My friends went last year and said it is a great show…lots of fun… It runs through this weekend, but I want you to get your tickets for Saturday night so I have a cheering section, because without you I have a feeling I will not be going home with the trophy—LOL. Actually, I think even with you I won’t be going home with the Spelling trophy-ha ha. You can get your tickets by calling 408 792-4111 or go to www.cmtsj.org.
I think the show starts at 7. Remember..kids are the stars..ages 14-20. You can make a night of it. Dinner before, Dessert After!!!

Sam and I were talking about Facebook this morning. They say if more companies would ban people from using it at work…productivity would increase by 15 percent. Can understand. People were calling in that they check it every hour or 4 times a day and usually at work, but not always. Some companies don’t allow it. Lisa…A realtor from Morgan Hill said they can go on at work, but can’t play games and that’s what she likes.
Scrabble is her favorite. I’m guessing her favorite scrabble word is “realtor”. How many points would that be? But as one Facebook friend said..it is truly her addiction. She’s got an Iphone which makes the addiction even easier. She checks Facebook at least 4 times a day. I tend to stay off of Facebook when I’m home. It’s mainly an at work thing for me. Sam checks it though at home and on weekends. I use that time to watch TV.LOL.
My favorite call was from a woman who wanted to know what Facebook was. LOVE IT!!!!

Facebook is what got Betty White on Saturday Night Live. Yes, she has confirmed that she will be appearing on an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live. 485,000 people have become a fan of Betty White to Host SNL(please?). It started soon after her great commercial ran during the Super Bowl. There was talk that since she was 88, she would have to share the co hosting duties—maybe during a Women of Comedy’ Episode, but SNL boss Lorne Michaels has reportedly denied that. I just love Betty’s comment…
“I don’t know why or how…but it’s wonderful”… And yes it is!!!!!!
